PostSubject: Bearings in front dif   Fri Nov 06, 2009 8:11 pm

Has anyone had to replace the bearings in the front dif? I had up and down play where the inner axle goes into the dif, so I took it apart. I dont know if thats where the play is but im going to put new seals and bearings in it. Has anyone had this play in the inner axle? Any feedback would be greatly appriciated. This is for an '09 RZR by the way. I only have 700 miles on it. The bearing in there are China made, very disapointing, I thought Polaris was American made.

i guess it could? but the play is not in the bearings its between the end of the axle and the splines that the axle goes into if that makes any sence.

Thats what I was thinging, but I guess I will go ahead and replace the bearings while I have it apart. I'm also thinking about replacing the roller cage with an aluminum one. The bearings felt a little rough anyway.

will not hurt to change and keep the others as spares. if you have it apart you should change the cage also. i got the one from superatv and put it in my LE worked great for the few weeks i ran it. i still have it to put in the S sometime.

Yes the play in the axles are normal, however more than a 1/2" movement MIGHT be something to look into.
Just a little note on those plastic cages....they are made of plastic for a reason. They are made to give away before anything else in the front end on purpose.I tried one of the aftermarket steel cages and when i had a problem, it destroyed my entire front diff. cause that steel cage didnt break and by the time i got stopped,my whole case was busted up.When my original stock plastic cage broke, all i had to replace was the cage and armature plate.just my 2 cents, but i went back to plastic.
