| There is a group ride building for October 16-19. A "local group" as we call it, planned this ride around two months ago. There was around 15 of us in the beginning. We made a very similar ride in October 2013 in Kentucky and combined the ride with another Forum many of us are members on, Rocks & Ruts. Well it actually turned out to be a great ride.
The same thing is being done this trip also. AND, I would like to extend the invitation to any on here that may be able to make the ride. It will be made up of both sxs's and 4 wheelers and with several of the members on here already planning to attend. It will be a full day of riding both Friday and Saturday, probably going to Mullens and Pinnacle Creek H/M one of the days and maybe Indian Ridge H/M and Pineville or Welch the other. Both days will probably bring us back to Hilltop/Black Dog Ranch area by way of trails familiar to most on here, like the slag pile, butterfly holler, Keeter's legend trail and back through the Wagon Wheel to base camp.
With the "local group" and the Rocks & Ruts together we are looking at around 20-22 riders. We will be using FRS radios and following a lot of BobT's tracks to help keep us all together, since he has indicated he will be there for the ride. Since we will be riding several of the H/M trails both days, good judgement will be needed as to the beverages of choice one brings with them. We are all adults, and your decision is yours to make. ANOTHER THING, once we all get together and there happens to be a need for two groups because of riding styles or other preferences, that will not be a problem. We can still campfire together after the ride and talk about what we did and almost did and shouldn't have did today. An example is, in Kentucky there was a 150 mile ride planned for that Saturday. Those that desired to make the long ride did and the other preferred a more local shorter ride that ended up earlier. It worked out great and met the needs of the riders.
We are also planning some evenings around the campfire activities possibility with something on a grill. This will be a good time to meet other rider not met before and to introduce the forums to each other. As mentioned before, some faces and names will be familiar already. Now you know the rest of the story, and if any would like to attend, please do. Just let it be known so the plan will include all that want to go. If not we probably we might still pass each other on the trails...MD | |
