| Decided to rebuild the truck. Good choice I think. All the mechanical including new injectors done. :-) Dropped off to the body shop yesterday. Will come back with every panel that had a rust spot replaced, no bondo, and using factory panels, not patch panel. Will also have all new paint and new weatherstripping and all clearance lights new. Next step will be a couple of old school stripes and some go goodies. Good exhaust, cold air intake, chip and gauges to watch what is going on in engine and transmission. Great news is it is costing me way less than half of replacing it with a used truck with a 100000 miles on the diesel engine. Can not wait to get it done!!!!!! And I keep my 2000 7.3 Powerstroke!!! | |

| Great choice. 7.3 is def the king of the hill. We loved ours. That year model truck is a good truck as well. Be sure to keep us posted on pics. Would love to see the work. |

| Have them check your floor under the molding on each side. Also the rear cab support at the very back and the floor around it. Even if it needs work, that truck is well worth putting some money in. | |

| Did the same thing with my Dodge cummins. Was already making 600 hp and paid for why go out and pay 60+k for a new truck with half the power and then have payments again. Ordered new injectors, efi live tuning, and added a second turbo. Now putting 800 at the wheels and gets over 20 mpg. | |

| Writing with mixed emotions today. I had to replace the powerstroke to have truck this summer. I have mechanical done, compression is perfect and all mechanicals up to factory specs with new injectors and last week found out frame was ratted in rear cross members. I am going to use it for a long term project and replace or build cross members and put truck back in service. Bit the bullet and bought GMC Sierra 3500 My first 4x4 pickup! Loving the new wheels but really wanted to avoid payments. New Duramax is a real powerhouse! | |

my cousin owns a home construction/landscape business he has three of the older Dodge Cummins with 6 speed manual trans. they have been flawless. he has a one ton dually 4wd duramax for his personal truck because he liked the interior more than Dodge. for awhile he had a big Ford, 550,650? that had a Cummins and Allison trans! | |
