| Finally bought another GPS unit so I can post some tracks were we venture off too. I was on the fence with several units. Made up my mind on what I wanted. Looked around on the net. Can't remember what the best price was on the net... Either way, the issue was finding one in stock some where. Called Bass Pro in Concord, they said they had several but they were rain checks. So I went down there yesterday to see if I could get one of the rain check ones. I get down there (busy as hell) and they check on one and say I can have it. So I said it's $499.99 right... He says no it's $349.99!!! So I was stoked!!!! Nothing like going somewhere prepared to pay a certain amount and come out allot cheaper.... | |

| Sounds like a good deal to me. Congrats!! I bought a dvd on ebay for my rino, helped me learn to do some things, and is nice for a refresher once in a while. | |

| The Oregon is a hand held, plus it has double the battery life, more way points and the Nuvi does not have track log or at least it's not listed in the spec... Just a personal choice. | |

| I don't like things with rechargeable batteries for use in the woods. When your batteries die you are out of luck. At least with AA's they are easy to carry or to pick up at a gas station.
Good choice Mark | |

| simoniz, the nivi 500 does have a track log and you can plan trips on your computer, the 400t you can't, plus the nivi has a 8hr rechargable battery, plus you can carry a extra battery. | |

| I can make my own routes, stayed up late messing with it. Took existing tracks and added to them loaded it to the unit. I will post everything in one image when I get home tonight. For the vehicle I have a Nuvi 205W. So I'm satisfied with my choices. I did the research and made the choice the best suited me. | |

| I have that same unit, and LOVE It.. I use it on the harley, rzr, and on my rancher. It has been muddy, rained on, dusty, and it still works great.
You will notice that if you do a hardwire install the screen is brighter than just runninng on batteries. On the harley I had to do the hardwire because it was easier to read in full sun.
Congrats! You will love it! | |
