| Yeah, what rifle is that?
I have a .204 I've been dying to try out on something.
I'm also in the process of building a AR in a .204

I'm also in the process of building a AR in a .204 It's a Ruger Target in 22-250 with the Leupold 6.5x20. The action looks strange because it was when Ruger was first putting the stainless barrels on and had yet to match the actions . I like the accuracy so much , I purchaced a 25-06 in the same model for deer hunting when on stand since they weigh 11 lbs before scope . My brother was using a Savage in 223 with a Bushnell 4x12 . I had to trade him the 4x12 for a 3x9 I ended up using on a 22 cal. rifle . He finally understands , YOU CAN'T HIT , WHAT YOU CAN'T SEE ! Now I need to talk him into getting a good set of binoculars to find the hogs . But then , he may out shoot me , so maybe I'll keep the bino's a secret...... Hey Yellowzx01 , Please let me know how you like your 204 in the wind . I know the velocity cooks , but was afraid the light bullet may drift too much in the wind . If I remember correctly , I had to hold 4 inches into a 10mph wind at 300 yds with a 55 grain in the 22-250. I've always thought about an AR , but it would be strictly for paper targets , since the only semi autos we can hunt with in PA. are shotguns . Sure wish the Game Commission would change that for at least Coyote hunting . They are really starting to get bad around here in the past few years .

| 4x4, I used to have a real nice gopher getter I built on a sleved 700 action. It was a wildcat load, 22 cheetha, it spit out a 55 grain Barnes X at just shy of 4800 according to my buddies Crony. 1 7/8 x 30 inch Hart barrel, 2 oz canjar trigger, 36 power leupold target dot. The brass was made from a 308 bench rest case. | |

| Rhinorider , now that is a one hell of a gopher getter ! Wildcats always push extreme limits on ballistics . Why do you say ( used to have ) ? Did it get too expensive to load rounds or at 4800 fps , did you cook the barrel ? I've always wanted to build a custom match grade rifle , but it takes allot of $$$ and dedication , range time to dial in . With all the custom (FACTORY ) offerings available in ammo and rifles , I just can't seem to justify the extra expence of a wildcat chambering and all the extra work involved . If and when , I ever get the time and $$$ , I'd like to concentrate on a large caliber long range rifle . I realize Barretts 416 or 50 BMG seem to be the new Factory King of long range , but then you have to factor in $$$ for Barretts or custom hand loading to shoot it enough to get it dialed in . That being considered , I'll probably focus on the 300 Win Mag or Ultra Mag . Then top off good optics with Barretts BORS computer . Then I'll have to get good at doping the wind . | |

| I sold it to a guy that kept bugging me to sell it to him. He caught me at the right time one day when I was wanting to get a different toy, so he walked away with it. If you go the wildcat way for a long ranger, consider the 458 Lott, It is bad ass. I know a shooter that competes in 1000 yrd matches, he built one and is cleaning up. | |

| Hmmmmmm.......... 458 Lott huh ? I haven't kept up with the latest offerings. I'm assuming a wildcat based on the 458 casing ? Necked or fire formed to 30 cal ? Think I'll have to GOOGLE that one , thanks . Always remember , GUN CONTROL ...... Is hitting what your aiming at !!! | |

I heard it's a pretty wicked round. I almost bought that instead of the 204, but I got a great deal on the 204. It's a remington model seven with a nikon 6x18 bdc scope. I haven't really had a whole lot of time to mess around with it, but I got my load dialed in pretty close. It's been over a year since I messed with it since powder/primers were soo hard to get. I think I ended up with a 31.5 grains of hodgen BLC2 remington 7 1/2 primer and 32 grain hornady v-max. I also got some speer bullets and barnes bullets. I dont own a chronograph to see what it shoots. I have also not had the chance to shoot it out past 100 yards yet. I hope to get it back out this year and start messing with it again.

| Sounds like a nice set-up with the Nikon . I've bought quite a few Nikons over the years between scopes & bino's . Just can't beat the quality for the $$ . That model 7 has to be a nice compact combo . Should be a nice carry gun compaired to the 12 or so lbs's I'm toting into the field . | |

| Yeah, I have nikon on all my guns. I really like them for the money.
The model 7 is great. Small and compact. I was thinking of getting one is a 300wsm to hunt with.

| That 300wsm sounds like a good walking rifle . Light & compact , but still has the reach . Funny coincidence happened at work tonight speaking of long range shooting . I was chatting with a truck driver unloading at the plant . Found out he's an NRA certified sniper trainer for law enforcement in a near by city . Needless to say , I got his contact info so we could BS a little more while not at work . Should be pretty interesting to say the least . Seems like a no BS kinda fella . Likes the old school way of keeping things simple , but precise . Now I'll just have to figure out where to come up with $5K for a custom built rifle to do what I want . | |

| Awesome. I would love to do something like that. I have a barret M99 50BMG that I'm dying to take out to a long range somewhere and sight it.
What caliber rifle you wanting to build? I would love to build one too. I would probably build one in 300wsm.

| You two really should get together . He said he has a 50 also . He already invited me as a guest to some range in Ridgeway Pa. I'm assuming a 1000 yrd range ?
After talking with him , I realized I'll have to pay close attention and rethink most of the does and don'ts I thought I already knew . I thought I'd want to build a 300 Win Mag , but he's telling me that what I want the rifle to do , a 308 can do fine without the recoil . I just figured the flatter shooting , the better . I guess I need to also learn Mils verses MOA because that is what you deal with in Tactical Mil spec scopes . He also descibed a math formula that you can range by with the mil dots in the scope to double check the accuracy of a laser range finder . The lasers can be fooled by rain , snow or too bright of a day ? Sounds like I'll be taking allot of notes . He gave me some sites to browse over and stuff I'll probaly want to purchase in advance of learning . Give me a shout and I'll keep you updated when I have a chance to speak with him in a couple weeks . rnmnoble@gmail.com

| 4x4, I talked to the guy about the 458 Lott, I was wrong he built a 378 Lott, based off of the 458 Lott. That casing looks like a Stanley thermos bottle. | |

It's hard to find anything like that around here that I know of. I've just started learning about Bench Rest Shooting, but I'd love to get in to it. I just have to save up since that stuff ins't cheap!

| It's funny you mention benchrest . When your talking the kind of money it takes to get into either of the discaplines , it pays to know what you want to do with the rifle . Big difference in rifle weight from tacticle to benchrest...........Hummmmmm ? I'd still like to get the the art of sniper training for hunting purposes, but can't decide what type of rifle to build. My current hunting rifles are designed for reaching out on hunting size targets , but not with the precission that we're talking with a custom built weapon .
