PostSubject: Leasing Land from lumber company   September 23rd 2011, 10:07 am

I understand that there is a Lumber company in the area of Cowen, Wv. That is leasing land for $5oo. per/year. This gives you a lot to park a camper on and the rights to ride all the lumber company holdings. It was told to me that the company owns land from Cowen to Webster Springs. Anyone have any additional information on this?

It is probably Wes Vaco, but I doubt that it is very many acres for $500. I am in a 3000 acre lease in Upshur/Randolph Co from Coastal Lumber and part of it is a coal company but it is like $6500 a year. Some good riding and could be much better hunting if the ones running the club would allow you to shoot does. Lots of wooded trails, county roads that lead to many other county roads.

I know that there is a hunt club between Cowen and Webster, I don't know who owns the land, probably Wes Vaco. The area I know about is up the Little Cherry River Road, I know it goes 17 miles from route 20. I worked up there one summer reclaiming an old mine site. Lots of wild country in that area.
