| Ok, I have learned my lesson, now to pass it on.... I bought a cheap set of brake pads... Carbon Kevlar for all 4 wheels, put them on the day before the spring ride. Due to Elmo15's shortened day on Friday, he only got in 136 miles. He looked at the brakes like I told him to do and there were NONE.... we pulled 1 set and there was about 1/8 of the original pad on 1 and the other the disk had cut into about 1/64". The dealer wanted $100 for aftermarket pads, didn't have it at the time. Now I am out these pieces of Junk, a good set, and if I can (and this is a question) get the disks turned to get any grooves out that the pads caused.... I know some go the best all the time, I sometimes have to try to save a buck to be able to ride... any suggestions on getting disks turned and type of pads that will last will be welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance Pictured top to bottom... Original(bought wrong ones and haven't sent back yet) inner and outer | |

| Elmo, I was told to use OEM and for turning the rotor I was also told the brakes work the best if you don't turn them. To get full braking you need all the thickness of the rotor. I no we all gotta save a little because I sure do. | |

| Is there even enough metal on the rotor to be turned these things are pretty thin. I have no idea though. Just dont want a brake rotor to come apart when your trying to brake hard because its too thin. | |

| Chris... I understand that, but if you put new pads on a rough disk, they will just chew them up and I will be buying new pads every ride.
Sandbuggy... yea, they are thin, but same thing that started this (cheapest disks) I can find are EBC and they are $63 each

| Fill the groove with weld and turn down to original, just have to watch heat doesn't warp it. slow stitch weld with low amps by TIG should do the trick. | |

| Used too seems like you could get a complete KIT from polaris for $90 per wheel , this included a rebuild kit for the Calibler , new pads , and rotor , most dealers break some of the kits apart and sell them seperate... and gives them a parts base ... Check to see if they have these kits for RZR ... Sounds like a lot of money but .... In the past I just put new pads to the old groved rotors , they still stop well but the pads wear quicker , but the kit would fix that ... there is not a lot of Rotor to cut and not sure of the Specs of the travel fo the Caliber .. | |

| Thanks Punder, will look at that option, depends on what I find when I get the other 3 sets off tomorrow... should just be a thin shave just to take out fine grooves, but don't want to burn up a new set of pads for a few scratches | |

| That was my problem, my rear rotor had bad grooves in it and I was eating up pads, 2 rides and I was replacing them. (Sucks) so I bought a new rotor off James he was the cheepest and it was OEM. You might want to check with him on your parts needed. Take any suggestions he gives you, he's helped me alot and always guilded me in the right direction and good advice. Hope this helps. | |

| I have been getting bakes from this place for my atv's very cheap and they seem to hold up very well. here is a link to a rzr rotor at the same place. http://forwardpowersports.com/Catalog/Results?rideTypeId=19&makeId=90&yearId=31&modelId=580 They don't have any parts for a wildcat yet | |

I'm on B shift. on A, but we are in shutdown, so really can work when I want.... I put on a set of metal pads to smooth them out, will go semi-metal on the next set, and if they are still not sooth, will go to new rotars or New RZR... LOL

| I hear you Elmo. After you 1st started this thread, I looked those up on ebay to see what to stay away from. The only thing I could find out about the EBCs through a google search, was that someone had trouble getting them to clear the hub. That may have just been a wrong part#. Either way, a grinder would cure that, if they were good pads. They were $30 per corner, and supposed to be made to handle the dirt, mud, sand, etc, and give long lasting wear with minimal rotor wear. But, it's easy to talk you own stuff up. | |

| my .02 I tried the standard ebc and as mentioned above they were junk after one ride. switched to the SV series and have been much happier, they run me about 35 bucks a side local and I think the set I just pulled off lasted about a year and a half of me riding somewhere just about weekly. | |

I guess I use mine alot since everyone else on here is getting more mileage out of their pads..... That's the kind of info I wanted. If i got more out of my factory pads than you, then I should get just as much out of the super atv ones as you. Thanks Bubba!

Those are the ones I was considering. They are supposed to hold up better to the elements.
