| With the new rzr priced at 20k and people lining up to buy them how fancy and expensive do you guys think these things will get before a model gets priced out of the market.
The sports sxs market is nice because they are a well rounded off road machine. But the more expensive they get the more they start to compete with more specialized off road machines. Jeeps, 4x4 tube buggies, v8 powered sand rails, score style desert buggies.
Lets look at what you really get for 20k and compare it to the fit and finish of a car you can get for 20k. I can get a 200 horsepower car with air, bluetooth, power windows and locks, a radio, airbags, and all sorts of stuff for 20k. To top it all off that car will last relatively maintenance free past 100k miles and may have a warranty that long. They have to be making a big profit on the top end models.
I don't know where I personally would draw the line but I think at least a model or two has probably already crossed it. I am thinking my line is somewhere in the mid-high teens but who knows the right model might lure me higher.

| Unless you have deep pockets they are getting to expensive for what you get I agree and in most cases a 6 month warranty. | |

| I have said I would never pay more than 10k for something to ride around in the woods. I have 9,500 in my 570, so it looks like that is going to be unrealistic. | |

| I think anything over the 15k mark is tough to swallow for what these are. |

| I agree, these things are getting way too expensive for what they are. I feel like I have already crossed the line with my RZR S with the initial costs and accessories. I think when it quits I'm going to quit. | |

| The price of these things are crazy. There are people on this site pushing 40.000. But A 200 Hp car with Air is 35 to 50,000. A rav 4 ir over 20.000 | |

| Agreed, prices are getting unreal. My last machine I purchased was a bit more than planned, but really like it so far. | |

| I got 18 grand tied up in my XP counting my accessories and that's 5 grand more than I should have spent. It won't happen again that's for sure. I had just as much fun riding my old $10, 000 RZR as I do my XP. Sure the XP has more power and a better suspension but it's not worth all the extra money. | |

| IMO, No matter how expensive they get, people are gonna buy them. Plus there's that little thing called "credit" that aids in the purchase of one. I read an article in DirtTraxx magazine saying that Polaris has just about sold out all of there Jagged X RZR 900s ($22,000). I can believe that cause some of the dealers around here sold their Jagged X's within weeks of getting them from the factory. If these things wont such a maintenance hog, I would not complain as much about the prices. But its ridiculous that you pay all this money for a SxS, then a year or two later, it nickel and dimes you to death. If one of the Japanese manufacturers would come out with a 60" wide, high performance SxS in the sub $14K price mark, I believe this would put this price escalation by Polaris and Can Am to a screeching halt. I guess all of us in some way are suckers for paying all of this money for these things. But they sure are fun! | |

| 2013 Subaru Impreza. 6 speaker stereo with bluetooth and ipod controls, heated seats and mirrors, awd, aluminum wheels, air, power everything. Could maybe hang with a sxs on wide trails if I didn't care about it, and most likely be less prone to breakdowns even when giving it hell. $22,300. No, it's not a sxs. My point is, look at what all I just got in a car for the money. ATVs and sxs should never cost as much as a nice car even if they were equiped like one.
As for the new rzr, even if I loved them, I couldn't imagine paying 5 months salary for one. I have to work my ass off, and there is no way it's worth it to me.
There is one thing good to come of these crazy prices and that's the fact that you can pick up a real nice used one for a fraction of the cost of new. Low to mid teens is as much as I will ever pay for one. I figure none of them are worth more than $200/month to me.

| If I ever bought another long travel high performance most badass sxs there is, it would be used because after having the rzr I figure after a few hundred miles it will need repairs anyway, and I do all my own repairs.
Those 900 Xps are going to go cheap, and the 800 S used will go for nearly nothing now. I don't blame the manufacturers at all for the price, I would have put $25k on that new 1000xp if I were them. People will buy it as long as they can make the payment. That's all that matters anymore.

| While I would like to get into a 4 seater. Our riding opportunities are so limited (without driving for 6-8 hours) that I can not justify that purchase at any cost (other than free or a steal).
That being said, I have considered that fact that a jeep might be an alternative to a SxS with less maintenance issues & cost of ownership. Another consideration is a SxS is a dedicated offroad machine where a jeep could be a dual purpose machine.

| You look at those and it makes you wonder why we are not getting more bang for the buck! For the $$$ they are throwing in a lot of stuff we are paying extra premium dollars for. |

| For the money we ain't getting anything in all honesty, none of these machines have any federal safety standards to meet, subpar ball joints, bearings and bushings. I enjoy riding sxs's, it's my only hobby, I do it year around and I about crooked over giving 17,500 for mine. Even though I've been more satisfied with it than other machines in the past, its still a tough pill to swallow | |
