| Does anyone know how strong the undercarriage on the Maverick is? I was debating on whether I should buy skid plates or not. I went to Uwharrie National forest and drug bottom a few times. Wasn't really sure how strong the bottom was from factory...and if I should purchase an undercarriage for around $1000. | |

| Skid plates are a good upgrade. Big rocks can do damage. | |

| Brandon,
Do yourself a favor. Get the plastic. I have had both and love the plastic. Holds up great. I would buy from EMP if they have it. If they dont have it I always buy from Factory UTV. Their stuff is great and thats what I run on my machines. I also run the plastic from factory utv for weight savings. |

| Thanks Tbone...If I install myself, how would I go about doing it? Would I take off what is already under the Maverick or place over? Do I just use self tapping screws and place them every 6-8 inches? | |

| When you buy one it will come with the new hardware for installation. Heres what I did. The last install I did was to my commander. EMP did not have commander plastic skids so I got mine from factory utv. I ordered the 3/8th full belly coverage. I took the old skid plates off. Took the machine outside and cleaned out underneath really good with a pressure washer. After it dried out the next day I spray painted any areas that needed a little paint then I installed the new skid plates. It came with all the hardware needed. I know it sounds weird but it worked for me....I laid down on my roller kreeper and laid the skid plate on top of me. I rolled underneath my machine. Used my knees and hands to position the skid in its proper place. Started to attach it and only took a few minutes. Then your like a tight pair of pants.....ready to rip. I have found that with the plastic you have great protection and if you do hit a rock you tend to slide across it. When you hit a rick with alum, the alum tends to get hung on the rock. After owning both it is way better to run the plastics. |

| Great...thanks so much for the info.
I am guessing that you are still running the factory pieces on your Maverick?

| Thanks for the offer. I just bought a winch and a mounting plate/2 in receiver/windshield/audioformz top...my wife thinks I need to wait a little while before making another large purchase. That will probably be the next thing I buy though. I am also looking at back bumpers...ones that will cover the whole rear, protecting the tail lights and plastic. There is a guy in Charlotte that does really good work. I think I will get him to build me something for the rear. | |
