| I'm putting in a vote for rotopax. I paid the extra cause I seen that the kolpins leak while looking at reviews. idk. but I know for sure the rotopax doesn't leak at all. and I just toss it or tie it down wherever there is room. | |

| I am going to go with the Roto Pax's! Now I just have to decide which size and still there is the whole mounting issue. I looked at the Wildcat last night and am leaning toward a 1.75G pack in the center of my rack on the underside but still need to think about it more! |

| I have a Rotopax on my ATV it is nice.
I am glad you started this post. When I make the transition to the sxs world when my son is old enough to ride along I had never considered the possibility of a fire on the machine with him in it. When he is young he may not be able to quickly get himself out. For that reason in addition to carrying a fire extinguisher on the machine I now plan on adding a halon or fe-36 fire suppression system. I had one on my sprint car when I raced and while they are expensive and the chances of ever needing it is slim the last thing I want is to burn a family member up.

| I thought it was a worthwhile topic to bring up. We all like to go out there and have a good time but while doing so we need to keep safety in mind. I'd hate to see anyone get injured especially by a fire. |

| There is a pretty active thread regarding this same topic over on the Arctic Cat forum. If you are interested you can find it here. Reading through the thread there seems to be a fair amount of debate about whether the problem is the fuel in the bed or a design flaw with the Razors. They also mention a 15yo boy dying from burns but I am not sure how accurate that information is. I have decided to switch to the RotoPax cans and will mount them under the rear carrier I got from Andy. That way they will at least have some protection. |

| this is all I can find about a vehicle fire out there: http://www.ivpressonline.com/news/local/quicknews/man-burned-badly-after-sand-rail-flips-catches-fire-in/article_be9ca214-56b7-11e3-b9ac-001a4bcf6878.html
what about carrying the extra fuel in the front somewhere away from the engine?

| I am not sure if the issue is the location of the container the fuel is being carried in or if the extra fuel is even the main problem or just adding to a pre-existing problem. It's possible that the fuel is just adding to the fire once it starts. The wife of the sand buggy driver that was killed (which made me start this thread) said that no extra fuel was carried on the buggy and they are still not sure what caused the fire. For safety sake, I have decided to go with the RotoPax fuel cans because they seem to be about the best affordable solution. I am also going to go with 2, 1 gallon cans instead of a single larger can. That way, if I get a leak, it will be less gas. |
