| Yep, what they all said. UFH and 1/4 wave radio antenna. If you get the antenna separate from the radio, make sure you carefully review type of mounting. Some antenna, like the ones we use, just mount to a point on the UTV like a light tab or the whip antenna tab. Other antenna that are available are designed to be mounted in the center of a metal roof/hood and use the hood/roof to get reception...you don't want that! |

| Radios are different when it comes to speakers. Once you get your radio you can address the "do I need a speaker" question better. I am not a fan of portables but that's me, others love them. I have never even heard the speaks on my Rugged Radio but I understand they are OK, I always have it plugged into a headset or my helmet speakers.

I was wondering if I would need an additional speaker. I did not ask if he had those. but is that a simple plug or do you need to tap into the wires going to the internal speaker? Did my own custom stereo just never messed with these.

| it's probly a kenwood unit, most of them are. mine has a tiny speaker in the top of of it, so a small external speaker is a very useful accessory. | |

That's awesome! Might get me a set of those for $40. Hate to spend $150 and use it 2-3 times a year.

I can clip these to my shoulder harness. They also have voice activation and an external speaker port(earbuds?)for whatever that's worth.
