| I doubt the valves have moved. I would just do an oil change only |

| I don't think you adjust the valves on the Polaris twin cylinder engines.
I know back in 2004 I went with a Sportsman 600 twin and went away from the 500 HO was to get away from having to adjust valves

| Ahhh that's right. Polaris has hydro adjusting valves so you never take them to be adjusted. My can am has to have the valves checked every 100 hours |

| Zero, go ahead a buy you a air filter, but check yours before replacing it. If it's not dirty or dusty keep it in there. Order you a prefilter from outerwears.com to put over you next new filter. That will help keep the dust out. Also, I silicone my airbox lid shut instead of greasing the lip of the lid like most people, that way no water can get in. The pre filter catches some of that real fine powdery dust before it gets to your filter, and it does not restrict airflow. I think they are around $16. I got two so I can have one washed up on a new filter ready to change out if I need it. | |

| Hump. How do you silicone the air box totally up? Just squirt it around the edge then close the door or just close it and run a bead around the door? |

| Running UNI foam filter http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2008-2011-Polaris-RZR-800-UNI-AIR-FILTER-NU8513ST-/330592702090?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4cf8dc4e8a ,recommended by dealer, with spray Oil foam spray, but would recommend a pre-filter if you can get one for it... | |

I just ran a bead around the lid while it was off, and slapped it back on. I never did like how the factory O ring had places where it dipped in real low in the groove. I used to get some water/mud in the bottom of the box after a few rides with deep mud and creek crossings. This fixed the problem.

Yamabeast, thanks thats the problem i ran into as i couldn't find a outerware sock to go over the stock filter and i was also wandering how people felt about the uni filter? I've heard nothing is as good as stock but i know an oiled filter like the uni should filter better than a paper filter i would think and wanted experience RZR rider feedback about paper vs foam oiled uni's filters! Thanks for all the info guys!

Keeping a clean air filter is the life of your engine. We've seen many different air filter setups come thru our shop. Some seems to do better than others but the stock paper air filter if kept clean seems to keep the finer dust particles out of the engine = less ring wear & longer engine life before a rebuild. I also run the outer filter & clean it after every ride. This gives my paper filter @ least 5x longer life before changes. No argument... LOL, but my dealer has never done me wrong, so I continue to trust them. they do a lot of work for me for free, and am personal friends with many of them. So until I have a problem with them, I will do what they say.

| Thanks ElmoEOD, no problem as any feedback is better than none and i heard about the same about the OEM paper filters but alway heard good things about the uni's. On my Grizz i also run a Outerwear lid from Ehs racing and a outerwear sock over my intake tube too and like you mentioned it is the life of a motors cyl and rings. | |

The first time I took my filter off and a bunch of mud was behind it! Even after I cleaned it well. I had to clean it out best I could and hope to the lord no dirt got into the engine. A little may have but thats what the filter is for. From now on I will pressure was extra good behind that oil filter before I take it off again! Oh I never used a wrench. I just used some chanel locks to take it off. To put a new filter on I just used my hand and got it as tight as I could. Let it warm up and tighten it some more. Seems to have done the trick. |
