| I have put on a charity ride the past 3 years here at home and it doesn't matter what you do, you can't please everyone. Too fast, too slow, to much dust, too much mud, too hot, not enough food, too many stops, too many people breaking down. Just a few of the "cries" I have heard. I think the ones doing all of the foot work putting this together should just decide based on their past experience what will work best, make a decision, and go for it. The ones that want to enjoy it WILL enjoy it no matter what. The ones that want to complain WILL complain no matter what. I am sure it will be a great ride no matter where it is held especially if the stated goal is kept in mind, to come together and meet new folks and raise money for a great charity.
One thing that I tried to do this year is have everyone who wants to ride slow, go to the front of the pack and everyone who wants to ride fast hang toward the back and don't try to pass just because you want to go faster. Cause at the front, I held it at no faster than 15mph and they were doing 30mph in the back most of the ride to keep up. It just plays out that way every year it seems. And as stated before, you can announce until you are blue in the face to watch for the person behind you, but they never do. It is simple courtesy, if you come to a turn or whatever, make sure the person behind you sees where you are going.
Keep up the good work guys, wish I could be there! | |

| when near the back of the pack, you are running like it's the race of your life. On my 1st group ride, I rode the 450 near the back, and I drove harder, and better than I ever thought I could. I now try to get close to the front (top 20), and I've rode there thinking I could be in the 450 and not even be dogging it too much other than the pavement. It's that unexpected stop where the person in front keeps going that starts the insanity. At that point it's a scramble to catch up, or keep up with the person in front. It almost seems like it becomes "every man for himself" at that point. I think it's the fear of being lost forever where you don't know the way back. | |

| well to me it really dont matter what trails we ride but if we r doing a charity ride then it would be best if we did it on the H/M trails .you know we are riding to meet new people but for as long as i have been a member i have know the group to help out anybody in any way they can.so would it hurt to ride the H/M trails one day to help out !!!! as far as the 2 groups it wouldnt hurt to have a faster group and a slower group some people just dont like to go to fast i see nothing wrong with it .have a post on here or at the meeting before the ride tell everybody who ever wants to be in the slower group line up here and who ever wants to be in the faster group line up here and do it that way and let everybody decide for them selfs !!!!! | |
