| for those of us who dont have a gps....yet...are there any paper copies we can print off out there? I got one from Daryell at Riders Paradise this past weekend and immediately got lost. I like to think i have a very good sense of direction and read a map very well, this one just didnt help much. Not taking away from Daryell.....he was super nice and great to talk to!
We ended up staying beside Bubba53. Wish I would have had the time to follow him for the day!!

| It is nearly impossible for a new person, unless you are a geographical genius, to ride the outlaw trails with just maps and no GPS because there are not enough landmarks, trail numbers or any other kind of references to go by. | |

I recommend that idea to save you a lot of time and hassle. BobT's maps are the easiest and cheapest way to learn your way around.

| Here is an interesting thread I found on another forum where someone used a Nexus 7 as a gps. I like the larger screen aspect of it. I was looking at the Garmin's and could never really find one that I felt had a large enough screen and the options I wanted. |

| I'm trying the Nexus 7 experience right now using a $9.99 Back Country Navigator app.. Ive tried it on my motorcycles. Moving it into the XP this week. Back Country Nav. allows you to track like a reg. GPS unit does. | |

| OruxMaps is what I have seen recommended several times. I think that is what I am going to start with first. And, it's free! |

| I have recommended Orux in the past but now I highly recommend BackCountry Navigator. It looks phenomenol on an Android device. My maps look much better than on any Garmin GPS unit. It cost $9.99 but well worth it. I have it on my phone and Nexus 7" tablet. I wouldn't use one on an ATV but a SxS where you have it inside and protected I would think it would work well. Below is a link to where you can get a document I wrote for another website that explains how to get my tracks that have already been modified for BCN, it also explains where to copy them to on your Android device. These are actually the original GPX tracks since BCN does not accept maps. The advantage over Orux is that the tracks are in color and much clearer. BCN is a full featured GPS App that will track and you can cache/download maps since you will not have cell/data service in he woods to live stream maps. The pictures below are cached maps on Nexus 7. BCN Instructions and Tracks

Were we not on a recent ride where we waited for you to figure out which way to go because there were too many forks in the trail? I think we ended up turning around! No, you really don't need a gps but there are several of us that are lost out there without your guidance! What if you broke a belt or something and had too be towed out of the woods! |

| Hello, I am a new member. I have tried to load several of the recommended maps (specifically the ones Bob T has updated). My problem is that I have an Iphone and every app or download that I have found is either for Android or Garmin. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to use for the Iphone? I am most interested in the Bob T WV ATV Trails 2017 MAPS. When I go to the GPSFileDepot it only gives options for Android and Garmin. Thanks | |
