| Interesting...what is the advantage of deep cycle? I will need a battery soon. | |

| I considered adding an Optima battery, but feel that it is a little overkill. I may try building a tray and mount a second battery in the live well (my name for the waterproof box bedside the battery) and just run it in parallel with the stock battery. | |

I think the stock battery is fine for most applications, however, I am going to be running 3 2" PIAA HID lights and 510 ATV lights on the bumper. Not to mention the Jstrong roof's radio. I am not sure what the overall draw is going to be against the charging system, I am only coming up with a contingency plan once I get everything wired in and find the draw being dangerous. Do you have any images of your buddy's livewell setup Bobby D?

| The issue maybe in the amount of current to recharge the batteries or running 2 separate circuits. One for running the motor & the other for the extra electrical draw. That way if you happen to drain the battery you can still get back to start...
That has been a concern for me in that the stator has a fixed electrical output.

That has been a concern for me in that the stator has a fixed electrical output. Well by running the two batteries in parallel you are essentially creating one 12 VDC circuit. You are however doubling the output amperage. I am not sure what the CCA of the Optima is, but I found an ag battery at Wal Mart which was small, 12VDC and provided 225 CCA. And, as you said, it would may be beneficial to run the secondary battery as only a backup in the event you accidentally drained the primary. Some consciousness would need to be kept in mind to keep the secondary battery maintained. The RZR alternator is rated at a maximum of 500 Watts. If you take only half the rating, 250 watts gives you plenty of power to sustain HID lights, the factory headlights, and auxiliary incandescent lights (my basic setup). My setup when running all lights, and the reeling in the winch only consumes around 7 amps at 90 degrees F. This equates at around 87.5 watts of power consumption. So, it's quite likely the worry would be for no reason. Over the weekend, I listened to the entire WVU game on my Jstrong radio roof, and the battery voltage (which is inversely proportional to current) never fell below 12.3 volts; however, it is a new battery on a new machine.
