I was kinda worried about the temp though. It was 8* when I got up this morning but forcast said mid 30's so off we went.
This next one is of the Little Kanawha River in Wirt County. Rock Run empties into the river just to the left of this shot. You can see the trail going into and coming out of the river on the other side. This is a low water crossing and was over 6 ft deep today.
This next shot is of "Devils Teatable". Legend has it that the Indians used this giant rock formation as a look out point to watch way up and down the river for whites moving on those old flat boats and ambush them. I'm holding the camera almost straight up. My pics just don't do justice to most things like this. I'm just not much of a shutter bug.
Top rock is about 400 to 500 feet above the river. I've been out on it when I was young and dumb. But the climb out there isn't for busted up old farts anymore! Next shot is of a cabin we found several years back and even thought about trying to buy for a weekend getaway. But the place really went downhill fast between vandals and weather and neglect.
We rode about 30 miles today and all of it easy stuff as we were alone, out of cell range, and without a winch yet. When the temps got above freezing in the sunshine things got pretty sloppy. With temps in the 50's for tomorrow it ought to get downright sticky! We're gonna go again I think. Sure beats hell out of sitting in front of the TV for a couple hours and then getting dumber than when you sat down! ha ha ha.
Here is a link to the rest of the pics in that album. Not all of them were shot today. Thanks for lookin.
