| I stripped the threads on the transfer case!! There are no threads what so ever. Will retapping do the trick? Of course I have no taps but they do at work. | |

| nope you are SCREWED, you better just go buy a new one! no really, they can be fixed. Like others mentioned you may need to use a larger bolt or a helicoil would be the next best bet. It can be re tapped if there is enough metal there to tap it. Don't sweat it, it can be fixed. If you want I have the number of the guy who does all the work for Carolina Polaris in Winston (you can cut out the middle man) | |

| tap it out to a bigger size bolt to get good threads on it or helicoil it . I would go up a size with the bolt if i could you may have to drill out the bolt hole on the one size to the new bolt then take a tap to the side the threads were on and tap it out to the new bolt | |

| it dont sound 2 bad just fix it shouldnt take 2 long drill out holes and retap the hardest part will be finding your bolts to use in place of the old ones | |

| I did that on my grizzly and bought an oversized bolt at autozone. You may have to take the old bolt with you to get the correct size you need. Just be slow and careful retapping it and make sure you have enough solid metal around the hole to do it.Then clean out any shavings with a telescoping magnet and make sure you use some rapid tap for a lube when tapping it. Let us know how it turns out and what size works as it may happen again to someone. | |

| helicoil it, get the rite size and use your old drian plug over. i do alot of them. i WOULD NOT OVER SIZE IT. i get some that they have tride to fix them selves with the over size bolt from the parts store, its NOT good!! the coil will be stronger than the alumin threads if it is done rite. just my 2 cents. good luck. | the threads of the helicoil are stronger but they mount in aluminum which would make it the same strength of aluminum threads you wont strip the helicoil out you just pull it out retap it and be done | |

| Steve did you tightnen instead of loosen ? Remember on Polaris they do a lot of Steel bolts into alum housings , got to make sure you are turning the bolts the correct way . More than likely ( to fix it correctly ) your gonna have to pull the transfer case out to get a tool on it correctly . Your guys at the Plant could proably fix it for ya ...... | |

| No fixy yet! I called PE and those guys said they use a crankcase plug, part number 7052306 (m12x1.5) and wash from a Sportsman 600 and tap the hole. I couldnt find any oversize bolts around here and just not sure if the helicoil would work with the oring that is on the bolt and it matching up with the spring. The bolt from the transfer cases is a 3/8-24. I hoping to get something done with it this weekend. | |
