- well what a dissapointing day to say the least! Me and two friends drove for about 4 hrs today to test the commander and when we got there, not a single can-am rep to be found! Their weren't any machines either! We all had confirmation numbers and dates for today @ noon. We tracked down the spyder demo guy and he was rude and said he had no idea what was going on as he doesn't have anything to do with the commander.
BRP had our contact info as we had to provide it in order to get on the list for the demo ride, you would think they could have at least taken a moment to either email us or phone us at such a last minute change. This put's a very sour taste in my mouth and you can be sure I will badmouth BRP all over the net until I get some satisfaction from a responce from BRP. This just plain sucks! A day of my life I will never get back. maybe its all a scam, and pictures are all they have developed so far.... I read this info from a a guy that ordered his x, full msrp of 14,995. plus another 1300 in freight, and dealer prep and costs then add tax, he said he checked several dealers and it was the same fee's at all. so look to spend about 17,500 to get one. |

| I knew it wasn't gonna be a fair price. When I got my Grizzly, I really wanted the Renegade 800, but those were priced like the other brands side by sides. I'm sure the Commander is fast, and will be a good machine. But, for that kind of money, it should have more suspension travel than a RZR S, run as strong as a sport quad, have 30" tires, a blonde striper, and a factory beer cooler. I mean there's a engine swap setup or turbo kit for every sxs made, if power is all it has on the rest out there. | |

| Can-AM is cocky! I'm pretty close to folks at 3 different dealers that sell Can-Am's and thats what all of them say. I've had good experiences with them in the past (the reason I bought a Renegade). The Commander is going to be a bad @ss machine but I still like the RZR for several reasons! I was all pumped at first about the rumors of this machine but the riding position, size, and a couple other things I just dont understand... So I'm still going to be cruising in my Polaris's!! | |

| Not all dealers are snobby that sell the can-ams, I know that. The mention of Travis and the NCPowersports gang (performance east and east carolina powersports) are some of the nicest folks out there. I think the Commander will serve a purpose initially for someone that wants a ton of power, but I think buying my RZR4 was the right move. Heck, it's the same length as the Commander and how often do I get to even use all of the 800HO. I also like the amazing suspension and the 3 years of engineering that has gone into perfecting quality on the RZR's. Of course there are issues here and there, but that will happen any time you introduce water and mud into mechanics.
I loved my Can-Am MAX, but feel much safer with my boys in the RZR4 and I personally don't need a 1,000cc machine.
Also, as an FYI, NCPowersports doesn't charge any junk/setup fees. You will pay the price plus tax.

| Chappy, the way I read it he was saying CanAm is cocky, not all the dealers. I agree Performance East is great to work with. I drove 2 1/2 hours for them to work on my Can Am and it was worth the drive. | |

| Bottom line with the engine on the CanAm is how often will you use it trail riding on the east coast?
I can see using the extra power on the sand dunes or the desert but not on the mountain trails that we all ride on....

| Oh i agree! The only place u could see the power would be at Busco Beach on the drag strip or on the road in WV. If your going fast on the road though you may get in an accident or the police will pull you over. Well they will pull you over if they can catch you! |

| The offroad tires could not take too much top speed on the hard surface though and be stable unless it is just a straight run......in WVa...lol | |

| I enjoyed the test ride. I am writing a detailed ride report with a bunch of pics, I'll have it up in a day or 2. I had a 16 hour day today and am wiped out, I'll work on it tommorow. I know I am such a tease. | |

| What's the deal Garnog, is it a demo ride at the WV state fair? Do you have to pre-register to try one out there? I'm going on 19, 20, and 21, and would like to check it out. But there's no way I would buy one now after buying the S. That's gonna be my ride for a few years at least. | |

| Go to www.trycan-am.com and click on your state for a schedule. I did pre enter but there were a lot of people that rode that did not pre enter. They just had to get in line. It was a fun experience | |

| I went to the snowshoe demo ride. Was a 5 hour drive for me and I was all hoping to be blowen away by the thing and telling my local dealer if it rode out as well as I hoped i would buy the 1000X he has coming in september. The test area was small and had deep wash outs in it that didn't let you build up any speed but i was not impressed by the power at all! They say their have the computer programed to make the power smooth and not to give you the sudden jurking effect when going over rough ground when your foot tens to bump the throttle. The thing is they went way too far over board and even with the sport mode on which is suppost to take most of the programing out it is still way to unrespossive in my mind. Agian couldn't really strech its legs and I think 30 was the fastest i got before I had to hit the brakes. I needed one of those good old WV hills to climb to see if it really did what I wanted it to do. So I think I will wait and let you others work the bugs out of it for me and then I may get one. Was not all that keen on getting a first year model but I know my Outlander 800 flew and the power was what I was really looking for and just not sure not if its worth the first year risk. Local dealer is to be getting a demo in this month so will still go to that and give it a second chance. My .02
