| I think a clutch kit is in my near future for my RZR. Just curious what some of you would recommend and if you've had any trouble with any of them. Also what kind of change in performance can I expect? | |

| I've got a Dirty Dog Performance clutch it in both my RZR and Ranger. If you call Dale at Dirty Dog Performance he will build you whatever you want. More bottom end, mid-range. etc.. | |

| I LOVE mine. It's been great. Like he said you can call him up and he will put the right weight on it for what you want. I have mine set up for bottom end. I think it was one of the best mods I did. Makes a big difference. He also gave me a bunch of spare weights in case I wanted to change it. | |

| It's been a while but I want to say it was around $400.00 for my RZR. My Ranger was cheaper.
You may need a reprogramed ignition box to gain 1000 more RPM's with the clutch mod.. Otherwise you will be hitting the rev. limiter around 6500RPMS. With my kit, I reach about 6880 RPM wide open.

| Accerleration up hills will be one of the biggest improvements you will actually feel! | |

| I thought mine was around 300. I hit the rev-limiter quick in low range, but I have not hit it yet in high range. | |

how much does something like that cost.??? If you have the newer rapid reaction secondary (in all 2010 models and in all the regular rzr built after Sept.2008)then the kit price is 500.00 + shipping, it comes with a older version secondary with new spring and a primary spring and a set of rooster adjustable weights. You also need to tell him if you want ebs or not so he knows which hellix to send. |

| Is it really necessary to get a clutch kit? |

| Just depends on if you want more performance. As far as seat of the pants feel. This is the best mod. out there for a RZR. Quicker accerleration, more power sliding, maintaining 40mph+ up long hills... So it depends on you... | |

| I am pretty happy with the performance of my RZR. I try not to alter things to make Polaris upset if something tore up.
If it beefs up the clutch and makes it last longer than I am game for it. If it does not prolong the life then I am not much for it. |

| Ive ran the dirty dawg, full 500.00 kit and after many phone calls with dale and changing of weights , i gave up. Never got the "great" performance i read about, then went with HPD kit and gained some acceleration but very little else plus with both these kits your engagement rpm goes from about 1340 to 18-1900 rpm. Im running a stock 09 S setup now and its better than both of those kits were and the cost was much less.
Polaris does an excellent job on their clutches, if your running a stock or near stock machine you wont notice very much improvement with any after market setup. You can go on sites like highlifter and read about many guys running stock clutch setups with as big as 30" tires with no problems. Now if your running a turbo or very modified motor then yes the aftermarket clutches will make a difference. |

| I agree with you somewhat gunrunner. I'll probably never run another after market exhaust on a RZR because I can't find one that stays together. I had no issues on my sport quads but with my RZR I have had several issue with after market exhaust. But on the clutch kit, if your stock (08,09, or 10) I'm going to out pull you coming out of the corner by as much as 2 bike lengths. Also, when we hit a long upgrade/hill I'm going to run off and leave you. All I can attest to is my RZR and the guys I run with. My goal was to get to 40mph as fast as I could. I could care less about topend even though the machine will still run 72 mph.. But all of that being said, I hate the DELAID engagement of the clutch. It honestly gets on my nerves but I guess at the end of the day you can't have everything! | |

If youre looking to run faster in mid range then some kits can help, the hpd did that but with and engagement of 1900 rpm and the loss of low end grunt made it not suited for my use. Im not interested in racing out of a corner or going 72 top end. Ive tuned hundreds of vehicles and the rzr is no different, you tune for an effect, most times its low end, or top end, you can never tune for both. In trail riding low end is what im looking for. |

| Since youre setup works good, what are you running? primary spring rate and color, fly weight, secondary spring weight and color? If someone is looking for those improvements it may help them. |

I'll have to look when I get home. It's been in there for a year in a half... I have it all written down. Stealth has rode my RZR. He can chime in later to back up what I am saying since it seems to be in doubt... For the guy who asked about the clutch kit, call Dale at DDP and ask him for a motorcross setup for great bottom end and mid range punch!

| I'm not sure about how much weight he added to mine, but I'm almost sure it was the green spring. It did make a great improvement though | |

I doesnt sound like it does. Just makes it take off better. |

| Thanks Guys for all the input!!! When i'm ready to install I will give Dirty Dawg a try. I Don't want to sacrifice my top end speed but would love to have more low end grunt. Hopefully I can keep my top end and improve my bottom. Who knows maybe some of the rumors will be true and Polaris is coming out with a bigger motor RZR-S. If so my RZR may be for sale!!! | |

I have a DDP kit w/ 26" tires and 0-50 in @ 450'. Great turn-to-turn acceleration. I also have an FMF header, PCIII, SuperTrapp exhaust. Clutch kit was the best investment. I still run 60 mph+ depending on the PCIII map I use. More mid range is "funner".
