| With all this talk on shocks, I was wondering what type of tires and whells combo is preferred? I hear all types of combinations and makes but I want to know what most like.
I need to get some wheels and tires. Still riding around on the factory ones which arent really all that bad! |

| As for wheels, I'd say pick out a set you like and go with them. Stock is 12" but 14" look good, just a little more wheel/money. Beadlock wheels have a outter ring that make them stronger for rocks and whatnot. If you find a wheel that you like that is not offered in the RZR bolt pattern you can get wheel spacers that will change it to the rhino bolt patter. I think the RZR is 4/156 and the Rhino is 4/110. I got wheel spacers for my wheels with the rhino bolt pattern so I have 4/110 wheels.
Now tires can be a little different. I have the GreenBall Dirt Tamer tires that are just like the Maxxis Bighorns but cheaper. I have a SXS mag at home that did a shootout on tires and it actually scored the Dirt Tamers higher then the Bighorns but a lot of people have the big horns. I love my Dirt Tamers and I will buy them again when they wear out. You just need to see what kind of tires that match your style of riding.

| I`ve been running the dirt tamers and have 1800+ miles on them and have never had to plug one yet and we ride a lot of rock. I just ordered a new set and they run around $360.00 a set. |

Are these radials? We have always run Big Horns and get about 2500-3000 on the SXS's and 4000-4500 on 4-wheelers.

| Tbone you will love aftermarket wheels. They will make it a little wider, making it feel better in the tipsy stuff, and be more stable in turns. I say go with the 12s for the tall sidewall and the cheaper price. I can say ITP wheels are very nice, I have them on the Rhino. I'm not a big fan of their tires though. Had 2 sets now, and had one out of 4 leak pretty bad around the bead.
As for tires...don't go with a pure mud tire for all round trail riding.

| Going aftermarket, you also be going to at least a 6ply maybe 8ply tire. That will give you a much thicker side wall and you will have less body roll in the turns. The stock tires will literally almost roll off the rim in a turn at high speed, causing the front end to push too. | |

| I have run 12" & 14" tires. I prefer the 12". Unless you plan on running in alot of mud, go with an all purpose tire. I have ITP Terrarcross, Maxxis Big Horns & Maxxis Ceros. The Big Horns run great on the trails for me. The Terracross held up very well on hard packed surfaces & ashphalt. | |

| Ok great!!
This brings me to yet another question.......My Can Am Outlander was advertised with "radial tires" I can understand that on a car but why do people like them for offroading? I dont understand how thats a good thing vs non radial. |

| I'm sure others will give you more info.. A radial gives you more of a foot print on the ground. Some folks say they even give you a little smoother ride on the rough stuff. One thing for sure is when hit hard pack surfaces you get a much better ride. No bouncing or wobbling... and they last forever.
I've had 5 sets of Big Horns radials and 1 set of the Terracross XD. The Terracrosses where out of round, at high medium to high speeds they wobbled allot..

| So you should always try to get a radial tire? |

| i have ran both the dirt tammers and the big horn and i can not tell any diff in traction. the big horns are going to last a little longer but not buy much. to me i could care less if its radial or not because i dont notice and diff when running a radial or non radial. also the set of 27inch dirt tammers i have with 1300 or 1400 miles and them are just a little taller than the 26inch big horns that came on the S. big horns run big on there sizes but from what i have seen with GBC tires they run a little small. |

| Hey TBone21,
No experience other than 14" Crusher wheels( 6" wide in front & 8" wide on the back) and Bighorn 26" non-radial tires. All I can say for sure is that the tires will take a beating on the sidewall without failing, the 14x26 combo gains some ground clearance, spacing out the front gets a little more front bite and the setup will take some acceleration away (if you care/or unless you compensate). It's all I've known and I like it.

| stay away from the 14 inch wheels. they get sidewall cuts much easier. at least the ones on my rhino did and from what i have seen out on the trail. |

| I've got 14" T7 Beadlockers on both my Ranger and RZR. I've never had a sidewall cut. I never run less than 12lbs. of air neither. I run 14lbs. most of the time! | |

| Last weekend my buddy actually broke a rim running that low of air pressure. I will post pics. later today. He had a T7 beadlocker like me. I kept telling him he was running to low of air pressure. He got home Monday called ITP and sent them a picture and they said they would not warranty the rim because he was indeed running to low of tire pressure for the RZR. | |
