| We are planing a trip for next July to come to WV and ride and are aiming at the end of july. We are most likely gona stay at Ashland resort. What I am trying to decide is if we are renting a cabin(provided any are available) or tow my toy hauler and camp for the week. If we rent a cabin we want one with a bathroom/shower. those are $750/week. I could spend $200 and get a camp spot if I wana tow the toy hauler that far(just over 1000 miles). I get 8-10 MPG pulling the camper or if I am lucky 14 towing the open trailer with multiple machines on it. If I do the math at the current fuel price it is going to be abought $300 cheaper to bring the camper than to rent a cabin. Now if I could boondock out in the national forest some place close to Ashland Resort(relatives are staying there) I could save that $200 as well. I have the setup to be 100% self suficiant for the week so I dont realy need a campground but I dont know if there is anywhere to camp out in the sticks like I do in Colorado. Is there anywhere to do this?? We want acces to the trails without trailering. Most likely we will stay at the resort but I am cheap and wouldent mind saving that extra $$ if posible. | |

| Boondocking is no hookups. Just a place to park. You can boondock in a WalMart parking lot as an example. | |

| I boondock a lot. Usually at Love's or Flying J's as they are RV friendly and have safe lighted parking. I went all the way to Mississippi and back to MD and never paid for a night of camping. I have taken my Toyhualer to Ashland several times I don't know of anything close to it, but thier is Pinnacle Creek and a couple other places near Wagon Wheel. | |

| I've always wondered if anything would be said if you stayed at the Indian Ridge Trailhead. Don't set-up chairs or awning but just park and ride and sleep and ride. Seems easy... | |

| Thanks for the info. For those that sent me PMs I tryed to return them but aperantly I dont have enough posts to alow me to send them. Big G I may take you up on that offer. I will be trying to get ahold of ya after we get some dates set. This is my version of boondocking. I see no point in paying to camp when I have all the stuff nesasary to survive a week with no hookups. | |

| I was going to suggest staying at Big G's also since it is just 4 miles by road to Ashland Resort or you can take the H/M trail down the Mountain.I have just went out in the woods and picked a spot to camp so you can do it and I also let the Special Forces out in the woods one night to camp. | |

| Glen, Big G, has a great place up there. You should consider his place.
Randy, the parking lot is like the trails. Closed after dark. Not that it would be enforced but I am pretty sure it says no over night parking. | |

| Big G has a good area. I'd take his offer. There is a restaurant nearby his place for a good breakfast and supper on the weekends. | |
