| Need a "professional" opinion. I am thinking of making my own windshield. I can do it for less than $75.00. However my concern is keeping it clean enough while riding. I would only use it during the really cold rides, or maybe on really rainy days.. I am going to Rockhouse in two weeks. Is it worth the time effort and money, or should I just suit up in warm clothes rain gear, that I used for riding ATV's for years. I am switching to a motorcycle helmet so I have a full face shield so no air should touch my skin. Thoughts? Jason | |

| A windshield does keep a lot of cold air off of you and as long as you don't hit mud holes real hard they don't get that dirty but if you don't have a back window from my experience exhaust fumes swirl in the cab.Just carry a squeegee and a spray bottle with washer fluid in it and clean it when needed. | |

| Even a 1/2 windshield on my rzr does wonders in the cold. It deflects all the air right over my head. Plus if it gets too muddied up I can still just look over it. | |

X2, I would liquid Rain X before you leave for Rockhouse. Keep the wipes handy for during the fun of the ride. The windshield will keep you more comfortable. Just an idea make it ahead of time and bust down the street with it on and off for a test. In the summer we use a 1/2 windshield.

| Looks like I am going to Home Depot. I will post some pictures when I get it built. I am going to order a roll up rear window, they don't make an aftermarket rear canvas window, but I think the one from a rhino or Tyrex would fit. | |

| Polaris also makes a harden lexan front windshield. I have it on my RZR and so far so good.
I had a half Polaris windshield on my Ranger and it wasnt the harden lexan and it scratched like crazy. I hated it!!

| Thats what I am getting from Home Depot. Lexan polycarbonate w/ scratch resistance. Same stuff EMP and others use. It's just less thick and I will need to cut it to fit and put a almuinum brace across the middle due to it being thinenr so it doesn't flex to much.
I could get the same thickness, but I would pay $123.00 for it, the thinner stuff is only $66.00. for a sheet big enough to fit.

I feel thats the only way to go when it comes to the windshield business. EMP makes a really good product, but I can save $200.00 doing it myself. I am trying to save up for CV Guards and EMP is on the list of contenders for my money.

| I like it when people build their own stuff or come up with something different like those brackets in the bed. Hell, anyone can pull out the and buy stuff. | |

I don't think Home Depot carries the MR10 brand....but your gonna find out real fast if it is scratch resistance.....I paid 180.00 for a windshield off the internet made out of the stuff like Home Depot sells and it lasted 6 months....I highly recommend the MR10 brand...

| I haven't hit a lot of branches yet so I haven't seen any scratches. I only plan on using it the real cold or if it rains really hard. Outside of that I am good with no windshield. I am going to take a welding class at somepoint so I can really try and make stuff. I actually enjoy making stuff for the ranger, figuring it out. | |
