| HAS ANYONE EVERY MADE A HOME MADE WINDSHEILD FOR A YAMAHA RHINO. I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A HOMEMADE ONE OUT OF LEXAN THAT IS FULL AND FOLDS INTO A HALF WINDSHEILD. I DO NOT KNOW IF IT CAN BE DONE BUT I HATE TO PAY 200 TO 300 DOLLARS FOR THEM WHEN THEY LOOK SIMPLE TO MAKE YOURSELF.. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED. IS A FULL BETTER THEN A HALF WINDSHEILD AS FAR AS DUST AND NOISE? | |

| I don't run a windshield now but ran a half windshield when I had a Ranger and it does deflect some air off of you which is nice and if it gets real dirty you can see over it.I have never ran a full size but from what I see and hear from guys that do they are a pain in the ass because you are always having to clean them and when the sun is bright the glare can make it hard to see.I also have heard that a full windshield will suck fumes and hold them in the cab.I'm sure you will get more answers from guys that use them or have used them :152: | |

| Try a glass or window shop and make a friend , they should have some way to do just about anything with the material . Get you best price to order ( plus shipping ) and that is you budget to get it made local . | |

| I run a full windshield and its nice in the winter it may be a little louder but keeps the wind off your face and keeps the cab a little warmer. As for building a foldable, make a template out of cardboard for the area. Then cut your lexan and put a piano hinge for your foldable part. I always thought of making it in two piece where you could keep the top half and then remove a bottom section of about 5 inches. Then make a hanger on the inside of the cab to put it, so you will always have it when you need it. So this would let air in when you need it and put it back on when you want to keep the wind off. When the piece is out it will keep the dust down on the inside. | |

| Yeah, I have a full one on the ranger, it's nice in the winter when it's blue cold outside, but in the summer it sucks all the dust up in the cab unless you have rear one too. I think it wouldn't be too hard to make one, just depends on how crafty you are as to how well it would look. I'd say go for it. | |

| I have a full windsheild - I do have to clean it often when it is dusty and it does suck fumes in on my RZR. However, I do not need goggles or a full helmet.
I probably will buy a half windsheild to try it out. | |

| I Like the half during the winter, but even with the half the dust is terrible so I loose it during the summer. |

| I'm on a Rhino and I love my half windshield, winter and summer its great. When it gets dirty I can see over it fine, doesn't cause a backdraft. Best of all I have the quick disconnect straps that EMP sells and I can pull it off in 30 seconds and wash it off in the creek if I need to. | |

| What I want is a windshield that will fold down on the RZR without boucing around. Then I could switch from full to half windshield like the Rhinos I have seen | |

| I made one from a sheet of Lexan. I cut it and the bent it for a half windsheild and then still had enough to make the upper peice for a full windsheild. Never used the upper peice due to you can never see out of it unless you never get it dirtty and with my kinda of riding (see avator) that never happens. Bending it is the hard part because if you heat it too quickly it bubbles and you will not beable to see out of it in that area and it looks like crap. Cut it with a sawsall to fit the lower part. To bent it I took a small propane tortch to heat it and then took two 2x4s on either side of the lexan and put it into a work bench vise. The 2x4s are because the vise jaws are no where wide enough to hold all the lexan still. I measured and put 1 inch of the lexan between the 2x4s. . Then slowly and I mean very slowly start to heat it above the 2x4 back in forth. I used a small scrap peice of lexan to see how fast I could heat it before it started to bubble and it MUST be heated very slowly. Took me about 10 min or so of heating and bending to get it to what I wanted. Also I started with 16 inch tall 3/16" thick peice to make up the half windsheild. 1/4" was twice the price of 3/16" so that is why I used it instead of 1/4" and it can still go down the road.
Like stated above a peice of cardboard to trace out the bottem part would be best.
With what I have it keeps the wind off of all but the very top of your forhead and you can still see over it pretty well.
With as bad as mine is already marked up from cleaning the mud off of it I would never want it as a full windsheild but it would be nice for around the farm but not of tight trails.
Its not to bad and a lot cheaper than buying one. Had $70 in my sheet that did a full windsheild.
Hope this helps. | |

| I have the homemade lexan jeep style windshield on my rhino. Diamond plate lower, lexan folding section in the middle, and lexan upper. It hinges down and latches with the same rubber straps that hold you hood closed. Email me for pics , jlbothwell@gmail.com | |

| I got a home made on for about $50. It is a full window but I left a gap under it, it sets level on the hump over the speed odometer. This resulted in cutting the dust down by 1000 times. I considered buying one for like 300 bucks that had a vent in it but decided to go homemade and it paid off. | |
