| Got a complete S model exhaust off a guy on the RZR forums for $125. Defo much better than the stock cast iron manifold. The butt dyne could not really tell a difference. Sounds a bit different though. Main thing I was looking for was the tubular header so future performance mods will work better. Any ideas on a decent slip on muffler than will not be obnoxious but flow better than the stock S muffler? |

| Check RZR Forums Classifieds often, usually several floating around. They sell regularily for $100 + shipping. Or just post a "WTB S Exhaust" in that forum. On eBay they are rare and usually sell for around $150 + shipping. |

| Checked before I put s header on could not any aftermarket exhaust that was quiet or added hp. Polaris exhaust is pretty free flowing, had 2 bros, loud, no power gain + kept rattling apart. Threw it in the trash at HRR's place, went back to stock muffler with s header. Can't tell y'all what I really think of 2 bros exhaust not allowed to post them words! | |

| IMO. If your out for performance gains, an exhaust would be the last thing I would throw on one. Get a clutch kit or do some minor engine mods like light weight pistons and a cam. | |

Actually, as an old time hot rodder, the first thing is always to uncork restrictive exhaust. This applies to stock as well as modified engines. If and engine can not breath properly you will not see the most from engine performance modifications. I would suspect the "S" model exhaust is good for at least 2-3hp over the restrictive stock cast iron manifold. Adding light weight pistons will not gain any power (on a stock engine), only allow the engine to turn up quicker and provide better throttle response. Gains from a performance cam will not be fully realized without a free flowing exhaust. Adding a better exhaust for ~$100 is prolly the best bang for the buck. Plus any future engine performance modifications will be maximized. |

I agree with your basic premise -"If an engine can not breath properly you will not see the most from engine performance modifications." Not worth much, by itself, but complements everything else you do. Maybe the best reason to upgrade a Non-S with a better header is to get rid of the crack-prone cast iron stock header. And, adding an A/F tuner makes the new exhaust pay off. A clutch kit IS the best bang for the performance buck, IMHO. | |
