This truck would def be awesome to use on the trails. I wonder how it would do rock crawling?

Those are a heck of a truck, for a factory stock truck. Would be ok for moderate wheeling, and flat out awsome for hauling butt on rough roads. But, there is no way it would even come close to hanging with a straight axle rig on tough trails. I'm sure it would make all other ifs rigs look bad though.

I hope you're not talking about mine. That would be a joke. As far as stock goes, it would hold it own against anything with ifs for sure.
A good trail truck can't be bought, it must be built.

No I was taking about the ones you see rock crawling all the time. True about a real truck. Takes Alot of money and time to make.

Those Raptors do have some long travel, but as the front suspension compresses on ifs the dif gets closer to the ground, vs higher on a straight axle. Plus, ifs is very weak by comparison. I started out with a locker in the rear, and a ifs lift kit on my green truck. I got tired of having to go around the good stuff, so I did the straight axle swap and never looked back.
Tbone, you should come up here and take a ride. It don't matter what make it is, but a rock crawler is built not bought. There is some amazing machines around here.

I would look at it like a stock S , capable but much room for improvment , Rock crawling .......NO, trailriding Yes , I'm sure as soon as you have a warrenty claim on motor/trans/diff you would definatly find them less tolerable of your playing .

I thought you did. What would you want with a raptor then? Are you falling in love with the Fords?

If I were gonna buy a Ford, that would be it. I figure that suspension would let me get back up to speed on all these terrible roads around here. I bet it would soak up these potholes like it's nothing. Those trucks are nice, but a hardcore trail machine they're not. 1/2 ton axles in a heavy powerful truck with ifs = trouble. Mild wheeling, and flying down a rough dirt road fast as you can go, well that's what those rapors are all about.
