| I was wanting to get some carhart stuff. A jacket and bibs.
Where is the best place to buy it? Also what lining option should you get? Lastly it says to order 5 to 8 sizes bigger than what you wear. Is that true?
Thanks in advance. |

| Try Tractor Supply or somewhere like a feed & supply ... rifle hunting ends in a week so stuff will probably go down a little after that. | |

| T, around here you can get them at Gander Mtn, Tractor Supply, Dicks and a bunch of other 'farm' type stores. They are well worth the money but to be honest Schmidt (Tractor Supply brand), Walls, Subzero are all just as good for what we do. I have Carhartt and Schmidt and feel both are GREAT | |

| I have the blanket linking and the quilted and I prefer the quilted. One thing I would HIGHLY suggest is NOT ordering them online. You do have to get several sizes bigger than you wear so you really need to try them on. And I would still get them a little bigger than you think. When you are sitting driving its nice to have a little extra room. | |

| The site says 6 to 8 inches bigger than my size. Lol. Where would be a good place that will have the most inventory so I can go try some on? |

| LOL< all the places I listed. But like James said, the inventory is already going to start thinning out so you better get on with it. The sooner the better. | |

| I wear nothing but carhart work wear while working and have now since 1998. One of the cheapest places i have found for Carhart wear is at Magic Mart in Beckley,WV.
Carhart bibbs will shrink up a little but i've never had to buy 6 to 8 inches in difference to compensate for that. For instance i wear a 34waist and 34 inseam but in the bibbs for summer work(unlined) i buy 36-36. The wintertime bibbs i wear for work(quilt lined) i buy about the same size because they are naturally made a little bigger but still shrink somewhat from washing.
As far as wintertime insulated carhart coveralls they do need to be quite a bit larger than what you wear just so you have room for layers underneath and for driving or riding as mentioned earlier. If your buying bibbs just for riding then i would definitely buy a couple sizes bigger just because of the tightness when sitting. But still, buying carharts 6 to 8 inches bigger than what you wear would seem to be a little much. You'll end up dragging the bottoms of the legs on the ground and under your feet causing them to start tearing up around the bottoms. Once that happens, everytime you wash them, they will get worse and worse.
Neuromax is right, tractor supply (schmidt) is a very good brand too. I have a couple of their jackets and they have been just as good as carhart and just a little cheaper in price. | |

| And don't get the pre wasked stuff as it will wear out sooner. I have a blanket lined chore/saddle coat that I have had since the 80's. It is looking a bit faded and stained, but untill it falls apart, I'm gonna keep wearing it!. With bibs or coveralls, I like the ziippered legs, as when you are muddy, wet and tired, it sure does make it easier to get them off and on! And a snap on hood sure can help keep ya warm. I have used their stuff since the 70s and will kepp on useing it. I've worn out a couple of coats, but their stuff will sure last for years and years. Don't leave them hanging in the sun, as in the back truck window, and the more you wash them, the more they fade and the thinner they get. I let mine dry out and then brush the mud off to keep from washing them so much. And the artic stuff is warmer. On the coats and jackets, I like the blanket lined the best. Gander Mt, was haveing a on line sale on the stuff, but I deleted the e-mail, so I don't know if the sale is still on. And with bibs or coveralls like already stated, get them a lil large. While trying them on, squat, bend, twist, and just set on the floor to make sure that the boys are comphy. And keep in mind, that when it is really cold, you have to have room for the layers of clothes you have on under neath the outer layer. | |

| Tbone I get mine from Webster brothers in walkertown they r a family owned business (ace hardware). When I get mine n the size is wrong they exchange no problem. They r about 2 to 3 miles from the house. Last time I got carhartt one of the guys told to go home n bring what I wear underneath with me, so I did n changed there to try on clothing to get proper fit. Just guessing a size or two too big didn't work worth a damn so I did this n have been been extremely satisfied. That's the way I get my carhartts. | |
