| Just bought a 2-die RCBS set. Broke the decapper pin in the first batch of cases and subsequently stuck two cases in the sizing die after removing the pin. Any thoughts? Different mfg.s? 2-die vs 3-die? | |

| Finzup i feel your pain as 270 cases are the tuffest cases to resize of all i think. I hate to reload them for my friends so i make them help me. The most important thing is to make sure and lube the cases good and wipe them each with you fingers before sizing the next case. I found it easiest to keep the pin as shallow as posible to where it just does push the old primer out. I have also went so far as to taking the expander ball off the decapping shaft to help elimenate as much drag as possible on the resizer. Also on this die for the 270 it needs to be cleaned inside more oftern then other caliber i find. I hope some of this helps and if you need any more ideas give me a hollar and i 'll help any way i can. Be sure and anneal your brass if it new as this will also prolong the life of the brass. Years passed i found lots of 270 brass to be very brittle and split down the neck with brand new brass! Good luck and keep in touch and maybe we can swap load recipes for the 270 and other calibers. | |

| Thanks, ketter. Good info. In fact, I'll bet my last stuck case is due to mica dust on the OD. I'm trying to "neck-die" (@3/4 of the neck) on a FL die. If I can get them loaded, my trial will start with 130 Nosler B-Tip, Fed 215, IMR 7828 (58 - 60 gr) set back .015". I'm loading for an old custom - Douglas, Swedish Mauser, Timney, Bishop combo with Burris and Limbsaver additions.
I'm up for swapping 270/ 22-250 recipes. Got a killer 22-250 varmint load. Thanks, again.

| Finz you may have some gunk built up inside of the sizing die also. Even if they are new dies it may have some residue from manufacturing. I use a bronze bore brush with some acetone to clean the inside of dies, followed by flannel patches, then lightly oiled. Also check your shell holder that the case is setting all the way in, I use a dental pick or a scribe to scrape out the grove. | |

| If you are necking them, get a set of Lee collet neck sizing die, they work great. | |

Did your die prep on a new sizing die, as well as, bought the RCBS lube and pad. No problems.

| My first batch of Noslers shot OK @ 58gr of powder, but COL wouldn't load consistently from the mag. I'll play with COL then work loads around 55gr for a tighter pattern. I'm using a powder that is not as popular as those you use. Looking for 200+ yd accuracy from a 22-1/2" barrel. | |

IMR4064 46.5/48grs powder IMR4350 53/55 grs powder Hodgdon 4831 sc 58/60 grs powder I went down to 53.5 gr.s of IMR7828 and shot 1/2 and 3/4" groups of two, 110 & 100 yd.s respectively. Loaded 48 rounds of Winchester and Federal "once-shot" brass throughout the load range of my test. Had to throw most of the test Fed.s away because of base deformation. Finished with bullet seating measuring the Ogive at 3.800 " using a comparator. That's .053" longer than a Win. Power Point. Next comes longer distance performance tests. I'll keep your Gameking suggestion in mind. Thanks
