Motorcycle-deer collision takes life of Thaxton man





A Thaxton man was killed in a motorcycle wreck Wednesday afternoon in Bedford County, according to state police.

Dale Ashwell, 55, was driving a 2002 Triumph 80cc Bonneville America
motorcycle eastbound on U.S.460 near Virginia 741 when his motorcycle
struck a deer that darted across the road, according to police spokesman
Rob Carpentieri.
Ashwell was taken to Carillon Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, Carpentieri said.
He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The wreck is under investigation.

Was down in Florida (Venice) a couple years ago when a guy on a motorcycle ran into a pig and got killed.

I had a street bike and an old lady didnt see me and pulled out in front of me. It scared the crap out of me. I sold the bike 3 months later.
That stinks he got killed.

Thats a shame...

Motorcycles are awesome. it's a free feeling while you ride.

but most drivers pay no attention to them. I have had my motorcycle license since I turned 16 but have no need for a street bike.

All though, I will take a ride on my dads Harley from time to time.

When I bought mine I thought it would be fun as well. Now I know people love it and thats great...but for me I did not think it was all that fun. I got bored.
I just decided to get rid of the bike.

Way to much traffic anymore for me to think about owning a motorcycle. Then, you throw in the worst thing happening on the road...people texting non-stop while driving. I've had 2 people cross the center line on me in the last 6 months, and both of them had their phone up in front of their face.
