| Most people have roaming so they will use VZ, AT&T, US Cellular as they move out of their primary carriers network and into another carriers network. Most likely if one carrier is bad at Ashland ...all carriers will be bad. Each carrier also has decent maps of their coverage areas on the internet. I can tell you that Verizon's map shows very little coverage in that part of the state which is made even worse by the mountainous terrain.
I've been looking at Personal Locator Beacons that use satellites instead of cell phone towers. They are pretty good and some let you send text messages to designated recipients as well as notify a national emergency network. If you have an serious emergency in rural WV, these are what you want to have in your SxS. If you activate it, there will be an emergency response. They are not expensive when compared to a person's life. Some require a subscription as well. | |

| Well I may just stay with AT&T then. Hopefully one day Verizon will get there at Ashland. |

| I have N telos, and it is just starting to work good around home. Verison don't have as much coverage in wv I don't think. Mine has been doing alot better in the last two years here, but don't work at Ashland. Becky has a at&t go phone, and I bring it to Ashland when I come. I would say Ntelos will get going near ashland before Verison does at the rate they have been going. If my phone ever works down there I will put out a wvsxsriders public anouncement. | |

| We have Verizon and we didn't have service at the Fall Ride. We got a AT&T Go Phone and it work fine at the campground. I have a Droid X and my wife has a Iphone 4s and for some reason she was getting text messages while we were there but couldn't send one out. | |

| If you have verizon turn left out of the ashland resort driveway onto the pavement and ride about two miles until you get to the top of the mountain where it turns a sharp left and I think windmill gap road starts on the right (think that is the name). Park on the side of the road up there and a verizon phone works every time. | |

| Sprint8 is correct for Verizon to call out is at that location, but There is full service on ATT as there is a tower right there for ATT customers. Verizon is like water and sewer in that area, coming in the near future but dont hold your breath. | |
