| Well, I just finished a few hours ago actually. I started today at 2:45 and finished at around 7:00 with a 1/2 hour dinner break.
What a job, If you are looking at doing this yourself, ask the dealer what he charges first, if it's $50 or less take it.
Words of advice if you install it yourself. 1) make the winch install the first thing you do before you add bumpers or skid plates. 2) have yourself one of those fancy telescoping magnets so when you drop a nut into the abyss you can fish it our. 3) It is a little easier with the front tires removed.
This was by far the hardest installation I have ever encountered. But all in all it turned out well.
I installed a Gorilla XTR series 3000 lb with synthetic line. It seems OK, a little noisier than my Warn 4.0. I wanted to try them out to see if they are worth the money. The line seems a little cheaper than what's on my Warn also.
One question, for those who have winch, where did you install the rocker switch? I drilled a hole in the dash for the wired remote and wa condidering putting the rocker next door to it.

| I mounted my rocker using a hole that was already in the dash. The winches are a pay in the ass to install in the factory location.I think the way to go is to buy the EMP or Warn bumper like Bush and Geterdun & some others have bought and install the winch on the bumper | |

After today, I won't disagree there. I had considered the EMP bumper, but at the time I really wanted the winch to be sort of out of site. Plus I needed to be able to mount my PIAA lights on the bumper. Heck, after today and knowing what I know now, those lights could gone back to PIAA as far as I was concerned. OH well, the job is complete.

| bush, when I go to eventually install my Warn, can I call you?
In all honesty, I didn't follow many of the steps that wold have made the job easier like remove the bumper. And most likely if I had pulled the front tires off it would have been much easier to reach in there and access the back part of the plate.
My last 5 quads all had winches, and all took less than 45 minutes to install; so maybe thats why I was so surprised.
Ultimately, I would like to install a 2" receiver on the front to use with my winch plate. This would allow the winch to be stored in the cargo area till needed. It also keeps the winch in better condition since you are able to keep it clean and service it more regularly.
So many things to do!!! | |

| I hope you have better luck with your gorilla than I did with mine Here's pics of mine after 3 months...and I won't go find the deepest hole to bury it in just normal water in trails. It was full of mud not just water...supposed to be waterproof :142: |

Off the RZR the only time I used it was to get yours out of park...then when I needed it at Brimestone it wouldn't work :109: |

That's a good idea....mine had O rings at the cable connecting end but not at the spool I added some silicone to both ends we'll see how that works |
