| IT APPEARS WE HAVE PLENTY OF TRAILS IN THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE STATE BUT NONE IN THE NORTH. ANY BODY HAVE AN OPINION OR IDEA OF WHY. I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM DRIVING 5 HOURS ONCE A YEAR TO RIDE BUT IT WOULD BE NICE TO RIDE MORE OFTEN. | |

| I know of two places not listed on the list but they are free to ride ( right now) garden grounds and sunmine , both are in glen jean and both might not be avaliable next summer as the national guard gets garden grounds and the boy scouts gets sinmine , they are gr8 places to ride and easy to find , even easier to get get lost on the trails . Sunmine has about 100 miles of trails meny of whitch I have never been on | |

| I do know of one place just across the west virginia line, small town called Kitzmiller, md. I believe they charge 10 bucks for a permit. but i understand you can ride all day and never hit the same trail. Just go to kitzmiller, Md. and ask anyone where "Wolf Den" is. I actually ride on the Wv side of the potomac, but my wife has riden some of the wolf den trails. | |

| have ridden at Kitzmiller. It's as close to Wagon Wheel as I have found up here. It does cost. $10.00 a day OR $100.00 per year, but that includes your entire family. You can camp there, no hook ups. It has lots of trails and a runs along the Potomac with places to take a dip and cool off in the summer. Their are really no rules other than don't touch the river rock the owner farms for sale. They do have a motorcross track and mud pit area. I will be getting my membership in Jan. My good friend has a place 10minutes from there so it works great for me | |

| I will get the number and post it here. It's rather laid back. You go to the peoples house which is 50yards from the one gate, sign up pay your money and get a key. If you get a yearly membership then you keep the key, If you pay for the day you just drop key off in the mailbox on your way out. There are two entrance's, one by the house and one up the road closer to the main roads. You won't be able to ride there now, unless you have tracks or snowmobile. They have about 24" of snow right now and will probably be up to 100" by the time winter is over. I don't plan on going until late March. | |

| I'm only about 30 Mins from Kitzmiller and while I haven't made it there yet, many of my friends have and it has some of the best riding around. We also have a few local areas in Bruceton Mills, WV and Markleysburg, PA but since we dont have access to big tracts of land, some road riding is required to link the trails together. As for Kitzmiller, here's all I know-- Take Rt 135 west out of Westernport or East from Oakland, on top of Backbone Mt turn onto Rt 38, at bottom of hill turn right on West Main St. follow this rd, it turns into Shallmar Rd. Stay left, don't go right on North Hill Rd. Now for the hard part, you pay and pick up the entry gate key at a large house on the right, I don't know the exact address but every one near there will help you if you don't find it but it's a big house and easy to spot. Go to the back side of the house to pay. Once you pay they give you the gate key, when you leave for the evening just drop the key off in their mail box. Once you get the key keep going west on Shallmar Rd to the end, go through the gate and just a few hundred yards ahead you will see a big parking area on the left. Park and ride from there. Only bad side is they don't mark the trails so it's hit and miss on where you ride. Once you get to know the area it's easy. From the parking lot almost everything requires going up hill so enjoy and hit the trails or make your own, they don't mind. Remember it's a hunting club so don't expect anything like Hatfield. The only detractor is that since the property is a hunting club, you can only ride there during hunting season w/ a yearly pass. Bow season stays in until Jan 15th and after that it will depend on snowfall. We would love to get everyone together up here sometime. Deep Creek lake has plenty of lodging and camping and plenty of other things to do. We have had 45" of snow already, and more almost everyday. Once the weather breaks hopefully we can do a WVSXS ride in MD!! | |

I'm only about 30 mins from Motown. I actually work over there most of the time. I don't ride too often in Bruceton Mills. I did when I lived over there. I'm more familar w/ the stuff in Markleysburg. I'm sure I know your friend over this way though.

| I need to check this place out. I grew up just outside of cumberland, md on the PA side. Worked a summer on the Randolph Jennings Dam project which is I think a stones throw from Kitzmiller. Thanks for the info and directions. Took our RZR up PA last year to ride on some family land. Nice to know about some other places to ride in the area. | |

If you get other riders that ride that area on this site and or our sister site wvtrailriders.com I will make a Forum section for this area if it has a name that it goes by.
