Electric service for cargo trailer ?

Subject: Electric service for cargo trailer ? January 30th 2010, 1:12 am

I'd like to add an electrical hook-up for my trailer ( for air , heat ect. ) , but have never done this before. Do you just run off cords from a generator or is there some external plug I should install on the trailer for a cleaner look inside and out ? If a plug , do I then just wire the interior walls like a house with outlets ?

I used a 30 amp RV cord and ran it in to a regular breaker box you can get at Home Depot or Lowes. From there branch if off just like you would a house, just be sure to put a GFI as the first outlet to each breaker. I did one breaker on the drivers side, one on the passenger side and one for overhead A/C.

I thought it would be something like you descibed , but was'nt sure. Now I know what I will need .
