Polaris Gets Contract with Army National Guard

Polaris Defense Announces Five-Year Award for All-Terrain Ultra-Light Utility Vehicles
Minneapolis (Oct. 19, 2010) – Polaris Defense, a division of Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE: PII), has been notified by the National Guard Bureau, Washington DC, that they have been selected for a contract award to provide Ultra-Light Utility Vehicles to the Army National Guard.
“We are excited to have our Polaris RANGER utility vehicles selected by the National Guard to help with their homeland security and disaster relief missions” said Polaris Chief Executive Officer, Scott Wine. “We are proud that Polaris can provide a cost-effective and highly capable, all-terrain vehicle that can handle the critical missions faced by the National Guard.”
The 5-year contract includes the Polaris RANGER CREW 800 and Polaris RANGER 6x6 800 Side-by-Side vehicles, as well as accessories and training. The competitively awarded contract has a ceiling value of $67.0 million dollars over the contract period. Polaris intends to build the Ultra-Light Utility Vehicles for this contract, at its Spirit Lake, Iowa facility, which has recently added over 270 full-time and seasonal jobs to meet the increase in consumer demand.
“Polaris Defense is dedicated to providing quality vehicles that can perform to the high standards of the U.S. Military,” said Mark McCormick, managing director of Polaris Defense. “This award underscores what our Company can do in supplying great products, accessories and support to an outstanding customer like the National Guard.”

this is something we all can be proud of more research and developement on equiptment alot of us ride

I guess the guys will need something to work on since Mr.Obama is pulling out all the troops from Iraq!!!! At least they are buying AMERICAN made products!

you know , not 3-4 years ago , Polaris was Brand X , everyone hated them , called them a POS..... now we just had a ride with 60+ RZR's and almost everyone says they love them ..... Funny how things change ....

its a love /hate relationship ! I love to ride them but hate honda dont make one !

I guess we will be getting a tax increse to keep the polarises running but..... I may can go to work for the government as a consultant !!!!!
