| Had a great time today at Coal River! I only ran into one little problem..... I was cruising along trail #18, easing through some mud when all of a sudden the RZR came to a stop. I couldn't figure out how I could possibly be stuck in such an easy place. I put the RZR in 4-wheel drive and continued to roll back and forth 3-4 times. Finally, I decided to get out to see what in the world I could be stuck on that would keep me from getting out of that muddle puddle. It turns out there was a piece of probably 1/2" cable wrapped around the right rear a-arm. It was really jamed in there due to all the rolling back and forth. I didn't know how in the world I was going to get that loose since the cable was very stiff as you can imagine being so thick. I checked both ends of the cable and they both just went into the dirt on either side of the trail. To make a long story short I finally got it loose after a lot of effort. After I got back to the truck and loaded up, I stopped by the office at the trailhead and told the guy working there about it and showed him some pictures. He seemed to think that maybe it had been burried underneath the trail all along and had just now come to the surface. I'm just glad I was able to get the RZR free undamaged. Well, there doesn't appear to be any damage. I'll know for sure once I get the chance to wash it. I'll try and post some pictures later of the cable wrapped around the a-arm once I get a chance to get them off my phone. Here are a couple pictures I took with the camera. | |

| Trail 18 is a blast to ride!! Crossing back and forth across the creek before you get to the road section is pretty cool. I did notice a TON of trash and junk around and if I remember right, there's an old jeep or something off the side of the trail. Glad you didn't tear something up. | |

| I went back to Coal River today (about a week and half since the cable incident) and rode trail #18 again. They still haven't removed the cable from across the trail. Granted there is a way around it but still there is a chance someone might not see it and get seriously hurt. I guess they just dismissed it when I told them about it. | |

I believe it They sure do talk a good game about maintaining their trails but I think that's a bunch of crap because I know I have cut trees that were down on their trails and back in 06 when I had my big Ranger I rode the trails about every weekend for a while that they took over that made the Ashland system and I cut lot's and lot's of trees so my Ranger would fit on some of the trails and once the H/M took them over I had not been back on that section until back in the summer when I took the Special Forces on them and they have them marked NO UTV's which is a joke because I rode the crap out of that trail up til H/M took it over and I could not tell where they had really done anything much but move 2 large rocks close together where it was real tight for the Teryx's to get through and like I said I put lot's of miles on it in my Ranger and cut stuff so it would fit and then they take it over and mark it no UTV's what a bunch of crap I will be riding it anyways when I get my permit and keep on going right off of their system | |
