| For what it's worth I have 2200 miles on my '09. I change the oil and filter every 200 miles and clean the UNI air filter after every ride. No issue's with oil burning/consumption at all and I run the absolute dog snot out of it! Anyone that has ever ridden with me knows I have a heavy foot, so as far as the motor goes I would have to give Polaris a big thumbs up! Oh, to answer your question about what type of oil I use 09rzr....from the first oil change I have used Motul 30w full synthetic with a Polaris filter. | |

| When I change the oil I am running the polaris oil and polaris filter. I add some Z Max to it too and that made a big difference. |

| Are you absolutley positive that when you noticed the oil being low, that it was completely full on dipstick when you changed it last and was you on level ground when you did ? Only other thing i can think of would be the pcv tube that comes with a slit in it from the factory and attatches to the reed valve. Of course if your getting oil there, that would proby be a case of oil getting by rings or even the valve guides and seals. I suppose its entirely possible also that even though your compression is within specs RIGHT NOW, your oil consumption, due to bad rings, could just be starting. When i first noticed oil consumption on my machine, my compression checked out very well but got progressively worse over time. You may have a situation where either you just need to keep on riding it and see if the consumption is worse or just go ahead and open the top end up for a "looksy" to see what everything looks like. I would probably do a leak down test before that though. A leakdown will pin point the problem if there is one for sure. | |

| I am to the point now I got enough of it ripped apart I am going to clean the bike and look at.every possible place I can for a leak. Change the oil and filter again make sure it is all perfect...then I am going to put it back together just enough to ride it with the bed and skid plate off and just run it around the hay fields for a while and keep an eye on it. If I am still loosing oil and can't find where it is going and my compression stays good I will just take it to the dealer and let them deal.with it. I still ha e 3 1/2 years on the warranty ...but with where my compression is.now and no obvious leaks they said there is.nothing they can do with it | |

| Well one thing is for SURE. The motor is not junk. I have yet to have the time to rebuild the top end on mine but i have been riding it with oil consumption taking place for a long while now. But iam at the point to where i need to do it now before it does get worse and my engine is junk. | |

| Like i said before though. A cylinder leak down test WILL reveal a problem and where it is at if there is one . Have you called them to see if they will at least do that for you for a few bucks? My experience with these factory dealerships proves to me that they just aren't too skilled in troubleshooting or diagnostics. Just parts changers. Of course that's where they make money. If your under warranty, then i would do nothing more myself to it and let them handle it like you said. If you do something they can see evidence of, they may void your warranty. They spend alot of time coming up with reasons NOT to honor a warranty. | |

| All that both local dealers are telling me is that if my compression is good then it has to be a leak somewhere...as far as a seal | |

| Yeah that figures. They probably don't even know what a cylinder leak down test is. Was you talking to an actual mechanic or a parts person and or salesperson? That's the thing that bites about those dealerships. Well if you take it to them, you better be factory EVERYTHING including all filters and fluids. They will sometimes deny warranty coverage on engines because you put a stereo in. (sarcasm) I'd be willing to bet a local (private) engine shop or auto repair place would do a leakdown test for you if you don't have the time or tools to do it yourself. If you took the skid plate off and didn't see any oil on it anywhere i highly doubt you have a leak. It could just be valve seals only you know. There have been reports of factory valve seals letting oil by because of faulty factory installations. In that case you wouldn't necessarily see a major drop in compression. | |
