That above is a reason I dont have them. My checklist every ride is long enough and if you get to playin and modifying something it could cause trouble.
People that do water alot need an snorkel......no doubt about it....
Over the past 4 years I have never needed it once. The stock system on my 09 does great and keeps sealed pretty well. If you snorkel it then every ride you will have to keep an eye on that stuff. Thats one big reason I did not do it.

Unless ya have x-ray vision, it can be kinda hard to tell just how deep every hole is!!! Snorkels can sure save your machine is ya get into the wrong place and take on water. You can do it yourself for less than $50 and it works great.
What a lot of people don't understand is the rzr cvt exhuast is about the same height as the top of the muffler and there is no drain plug on the cvt housing.....I wouldn't want to get no water in mine.....

Thats true and a good point. If your in that deep u are in trouble anyways. Its not an expensive mod and if you want to do it then go for it. There are pros and cons for both. If that system leaks then you have water coming in at the source and not up near the muffler height. Thats why I do not run them. Too much liability

Thats good Bubba.....I hope it never does fail. I am just weary of them and have not heard enough good yet to justify it. Its a great idea no doubt about it....it would have to be built just right for me to be sold on it. There is only one snorkel kit out there that I like to run and it was home made with a donaldson system. It was RZR Joes. That one is the ticket that I would do but thats it.

those werent. Alot of people told me on there that they come lose......suck ten times more dirt. Stuff like that. I can see where they are coming from.
The stock system works. Why mess with something that works?

i could see where problems could come up due to careless install or lack of maintance but at the same time if you take care of your stuff and properly look after stuff it shouldnt be an issue...i aint sure how the set ups work but you would almost think where the snorkels hook in you would have to have some sort of flexable coupling so that there was some sort of flex and less likely for it to pull apart...just my two cents...

Snorkeled mine, wouldn't leave home with out it. Separate air intake for the belt and the air filter. Stuck a pre filter on the air filter pipe and ran it under the roof like Bubbas. No worries about rain. Changing the oem filter is probably a thing of the past. Definitely no trash in the air filter box like before. Will keep a check on it, but don't anticipate changing the oem filter for a couple of years at least. Some say the clutch and belt run cooler because of the separate air intake. Siliconed the clutch housing to prevent leaks. If I accidently submerge, no big deal unless it's over my shoulders.
I would follow Bubba any where...

They all have pros and cons. If its done right then I am sure it would be worth it. Just do what you would like to do. Make your machine yours. Even if you do this it doesn't sound like a real expensive mod.
I def see the benefit though. James has been on my tail to do it to my rzr. I just read alot of bad things so I have held off like what I said earlier.
If u can build it good then go for it! Sounds like it would work! Groundhog wouldn't steer us wrong.

O9 rzr. Go back and check this old post of mine.. It's got pics and some other stuff reference the conversion. I kept the oem air box with this kit.

thanks..that is a nice looking set-up...seem to notice any additional power(due tp fresh cool air) or loss of power(due to longer path of air getting in)

Ok here is an example of a dire need of a snorkel. If u didn't have it u would be in trouble. I'm just not dumb enough to get into this...
