I had a nice little chat with a security guard @ the coal processing plant/entrance to the haul road over @ Pineville on Sat. He told me the coal co had changed owners & we were no longer allowed to come thru the plant or go on the haul road.I kindly told him I've been cutting thru there for yrs. & this time like so many others we were having some machine problems ( tire. with 4 plugs & still leaking) & how cutting over the mtns on the H/R made it possible to get back to camp without leaving somebody behind until getting back with a truck. Well he finally said since it was New Years eve & nobody else but security was working he'd let us go thru. He called another security guard who was on up on the H/R telling him to let us thru. Sure enough we met him about 1/2 the way to the view & he waved us on thru.

There is still ways to get around you just have to get on the haul roads and off as quick as possible which means you got to know short cuts

Well what if they block where we cross? I was told that to enforce it they will start to block where we cross.....which means we will have to always make new crossings and also I was told the security will start patroling the roads to catch us.

Who told you this? They are going to need a whole lot of security
Everyone might as well plan on having a H/M permit to ride that plus we will still have some trails we will be able to ride.
I will just start finding new stuff away from the haul roads

It'll never happen there Buckwheat....the only way they would even come close to catching us is when we have to hook to you and pull you out of the mud. Even then we would just leave you there for the vultures. THAT'S THE TRUTH!!

Wonder what they are going to do to handle the locals that ride the service road up to the haul road up above Tiny's that ride around all the time in their pickups and cars. That's where a lot of the drug deal happen in that area from what i hear. When i talked to H/m before the holidays they did mention that the New owners had over 170 gates to put up! Biggest reason was the theft of wiring going to fans in mines were being stolen for scrap even while they were working in the mines! And blasting issues in new areas!

Fireup...shhhhh...I wouldn't leave him. I just want him to think I would. Now I might have to wait on his SLOW AZZ to catch up a time or two. James said ol'T-bone was kinda slow.

There is so many trails in that area we will always have something to ride plus the H/M is not going to stop developing more connector systems.

Well if they keep chasing people around they will figure out that they can't get any work done and do they have signs up saying no trespassing

There are no signs around the haul road. There are at the guard shack. That don't mean that they won't line the roads with signs every half mile

I think the people that will have the most problem are people having to stay on them to long because they are trying to figure out where they are or where they are going.

we were riding behind that bed and breakfast place (the kind of nice big brick house off of 52) behind Kimball this past weekend and got on one of the trails that eventually turns into a haul road and we were forced to turn around. The guy was nice about it. We just headed back to Keystone and got on the Buzzard's Branch trails.

I agree the people that it will hurt the most are the ones that are lost. They will not bother the ones that just cross the H/Road like the connector trail #20 going from I/Ridge to Pinnacle Creek.
