| I give up, I'm going to start riding the 450 all the time. I bet the reason they are waiting on the new Can-am is so they can see the $20k price on it, then price theirs at 19,500. The good in this is that a man should be able to pick up a nice slightly used xp at a decent price. Better yet, a used S for nearly nothing. | |

Hump , for years polaris has been the one that put the stuff out there and took the heat from critics , 2 up atv with a dump bed , Diesel ATV , True 4 wheel drive, Yamaha did have the first sxs but polaris took the idea to the place we wanted 100 hp with 4 wheel drive . Now after all these years and leading the market all this time I am gald to see them step back , and let Can Am ( or any other manufactuer ) step up and be the first to take the critisizm . Being the first to the market place is not always safe , recently being the 800 motor , the old 700 motor overheating , tie rod ends , driveshafts , Bushings , the list goes on and on of those type problems , but like the guy who droves a corvette , its not a perfect machine but for the money it takes you to that place you don't care if it breaks cause you are gonna fix it to go there again ,maybe its time for polaris to make a " better machine " and let Can am feed the masses , either way I ride a polaris and don't plan to change , I like what they do and how they do it . Also , that 900 motor is not showing its full potential , adding what they did and waiting means Game ON to Can am show us you cam to play , the racers have been waiting for this day and you gonna see this market get crazy , the race was to 1000 cc ( Artic cat did that ) , now I would say the race is too 150 hp now ... 100 hp is going to be the standard till the goverment steps in ( yes it will happen , looke a Hybusa motorcycles , they came to market with a 250 MPH spedo and could see 220-230 till the goverment made them slow down ) . The 800 motor wowed eveyone when it came out , the 900 is that again ... Its not 10 years ago the larges thing out there was a 500cc .

| Nice post punder.
I wish Honda and Yamaha would toss into the mix of performance sxs not necessarily 100 hp or whatever but something to compete with the lower base model prices (for us poor folks)
Teryx could be sportier if it went on a diet Rhino could get two cylinders
Just an opinion of course. . . . . . . Gonna be fun to watch the war!

I agree with you Punder, the feds are going to jump in at some point. And, yeah, there's got to be a good bit more to be had out of the 900. It runs way smooth and quiet to be putting down the power that it does now.

| The 450 prostar motor is running with the 800 twin , that tells me the 900 prostar motor is very detuned , if they pulled 15-20 HP out of a throttle body , that motor has a lot to offer . I'm sure can am can also pull some hp but believe Polaris found beast in the prostar motor if the issues that Tbone has had don't plague it . I'm curious how large aftermarket makes it ( if it has the bottom end to hold bigger bore jugs ) . | |

| Every guy wants more power but. (Having never ridden XP) are there times that you honestly need more than 88 or 90 HP? Other than straight line acceleration? And not considering racing applications From what i have seen those xps are not to limited by anything | |

| Power is good, as long as it's usable for your type of riding. So far all these machines have nice smooth low end power.
Bigben, most of the trails I ride, I just use the power of the 800. Sometimes it just tries to spin the tires on the short straights. There's no way I would trade up just for more power. But, if I were to get a new machine anyway, I would go all out....if I could afford to.

| What I would like is a 800 w' the xp suspension (50" wide). I bought my xp for the handling, buy I have slow down for the tight stuff. So the 88hp is wasted! Ride Safe BIG HOSS |

| Hoss , that would be a scary ride . Even that 900 motor in a S suspension setup would be a lot to handle , I think you would spend a lot of time on your side or top , if not end to end . | |

| I've only had my XP for a couple of months now, and maybe someday I'll change my mind, but I don't see why anyone riding on the East Coast would need any more power than what the XP already has. Maybe out west in the desert or in the dunes there might be a reason, but I don't use the power I have. | |

| I agree. 85-105HP would hardly ever be used to it's full potential. Not on the east coast at least. But in the back of everyone's minds, it's nice to know it's there. Kinda like airbags and Nuclear Weapons.

| I am going to order the parts to the throttlebody and get Zach to add it if they do that. Then well see how much crazy the XP is. |

SBB I hear ya. I can say you don't need any more power 'til I'm blue in the face, but the truth is that if it were available when I bought my XP, I would ABSOLUTELY have it!
