Poker Run/Charity Ride on Sept. 8th

We're going to do a Poker Run/Charity Ride on September 8th for Craig and Melissa Light and their daughter Chelsea. Craig is a Sergeant for the WV State Police and works with my brother-in-law, Scott. Their daughter, Chelsea, is undergoing chemotherapy for a rare form of cancer. She is 18 years old and a freshman in college. Scott would like to have a ride to help raise some money for them. What a terrible thing a kid with cancer. And to try and tackle the expenses of college on top of cancer treatment is a heavy burden for any family. The details of the ride are still being ironed out (any input any of you would have is welcomed) but we're thinking of leaving from Sophia and riding towards Wyoming County and maybe having lunch at the farm or somewhere on the trail. We will provide lunch - probably hot dogs and hamburgers. Please come out and help support Chelsea. Thank you.

Also, I have a RZR4 and I'm thinking of auctioning off the three remaining seats to the highest bidders. Unfortunately, not the drivers seat. But I'll see to it that the cooler is stocked with your favorite refreshements and the ipod loaded with your favorite tunes. Anyone interested just let me know.

Ok. Here's an update on the ride this weekend. We will meet at the Sophia Little League Fields in Midway starting at 9AM on Saturday morning. For those who are not familiar with the area, here's the GPS coordinates (37.715683, -81.231675). Just cut and paste these into Google or Bing to customize directions from your location. If not, call me (304-673-7080) and I will make sure you can find your way. There is lots of room for trucks and trailers if you're hauling your SxS here for the ride. We will leave at 10AM. This is a Poker Run, and since we are trying to raise some money for Chelsea, hands are $20 each. Winning hand gets half the money. We will stop for lunch around 1pm at the Basin Community Center... they are having a hot dog sale. Lora may be able to provide info on food prices. Let's ride people.

If anyone is in town at Ashland or the Wagon Wheel/Pinnacle Creek area and wants to ride but cannot make it to Sophia for the start of the ride, we will be in Basin at the community center between 1-2 (or thereabouts) for a hot dog sale. The community center is about a 1/4 mile north of the old store in Basin (i.e. where you turn down Barkers Creek) and on the opposite side of the road of the store. Come and eat some hot dogs even if you don't want to ride.

We had a great turnout for our charity ride - 69 people. The weather sucked and we had a run on flat tires (and one broken arm... those guys on those 4-wheelers... smh) but we raised $2000 for our cause. Couldn't have been happier for the turnout given the weather. Thanks to everyone except Ricky Lilly .

Was a bad day, but we still had a good time.
