Good question - I have not rode in a Wildcat, but hear nothing but good things for the most part. I would have to ride & drive a Wildcat before I could say for sure. I have a 900 XP now & have been nothing but happy with it so far though. I would go ahead & get power steering though.

I did notice on one of Bobby's Vids that the Artic cat had to back up to make some turns that the S made easily, it may have been a bad choice of line on the driver but 2 of them in the vid in the same spot had to do the same thing . I am a polaris fan but if there was a Arttic Cat dealer here I would be my strong second choice , having a good dealer close makes life much easier . Artic cat brought a awsome machine to market , I just hope the continue the roll , they tend to make a awsome machine then stop there ...

Buy what you want to buy my friend. but I will say I have had nothing but a great machine out of mine! the machine is 12 inches lower in height than the xp and you sit 5 inches lower in the cat than you do a xp,yes some of the turns can be tight but you learn to steer with the rear,I have not replaced any bushings or bearings or tie rod ends and I am at 2000 miles. if you want to drag race on pavement buy a xp! if you want the best ride in the wood without having to buy a bunch of aftermarket stuff buy the wildcat, I personally run one down helen straight which is about 1 and a quarter mile long straight the xp was only a half of machine in front of me,he could not leave me and I couldnt leave him, he also had looney tune exhaust and a programmer it was not stock James and Craig both were behind on the same straight the evening we were riding
So a super great ride with the most travel in suspension on the market, you do the math, I cross water breaks in the trail at sixty with a beer in my hand

For very little maintenance, go with a modded rhino. The power is there, it just needs to be cut loose. Sport model handles very nice, and corners great. Way way better than a regular rhino. You will give up ground to the long travel machines in the really long whooped out sections of trail, and it won't ride quite as good while running hard. But, you come home, wash it, and gas it up, not work on it for a day. No bushings to buy for many years.
As far as ride quality and soaking up the big hits, nothing will compare to the wildcat.
I had my 1st and last Polaris, but I do think the bushings hold out much longer in the xp than the S or regular rzr due to how they mount to the frame. Don't get me wrong, I had more fun in the S than anything on wheels. I just don't have enough spare time to do that much wrenching just to go another 300 miles.
Only thing I think I wouldn't like about the wildcat is the long wheelbase, but that is one of the things that make it as awsome as it is.
Ride them all. That's the good thing about this group, you get that chance before you buy.
Anyone can have great luck out of anything, so don't just take our word for it. Search the specific forums for problems with the models you are considering to get a better idea what you are getting into.
Good luck with your choice.

There is nothing wrong with the power of the wildcat. It's not like Tbone says. Not a big diference between it and the xp on the trails I rode one on. XP feels more powerful because of the shorter wheelbase and that you are setting right on the rear tires. As I said before, it's the wheelbase that really sets the two apart, not the engines. Hard cornering at the flick of the wheel and stab at the throttle goes to the XP, smoothest ride and faster through the rough stuff goes to the wildcat. It's a tradeoff like anything else.

Go to Mt. Hope and drive his Rhino. You will have a new found respect for them after that. If you buy one, you can actually put your tools away and lock your toolbox for a while. A rhino needs to be built not just bought, but it don't take much to get real good power and enough speed to get the job done. A rhino will never really feel like a rzr due to the higher seat height, but I can tell you that my rhino corners very well. It's when you lose control and have to get it back that the rzr is better. The rhino feels like a lifted 4x4 at that point. The 700 has better power and control at low rpms than the 800 rzr, but don't have the high rpm rush in stock form. A few mods will take care of that. Rides as smooth at low to avg speeds, but not as good as the S at high speeds because you have to tune the shocks so they won't bottom on the hard hits since they have less travel. The rhino is a little harder to drive in the high speed rocky stuff, but in a way that's kinda fun.
None of the cool kids have Rhinos anymore. The guys who work on stuff all week for a living have them because they don't want to work all weekend when they should be riding.
I loved the long travel on that S, but I really think that any long travel suspension is going to be much harder on bushings because of the added leverage the long arms put on them. This is just my guess.
All of these things cost money, but some take money and time. I don't have the time for repairs, I want to ride.
Whatever you chose...and

Stay with your "S". Upgrade with your preferences and you'll have a better trail ride than all the rest.
