| Has anyone changed out their xp shocks from the factory fox's to better fox's or even walker Evans? I was thinking about trying we shocks but didn't know if it was worth it. |

| Hey Tbone, listen this is what I've done n have found out. As u know my rzr is now an s. next step is to have them rebuilt once I get a little use out of them. With your situation I would be inclined to do one of two options. The fox 2.5 shocks u currently have, r a great building platform though they r just average right now. For a fraction of new replacement shocks your fox could be rebuilt with the added adjustments installed making them truly, FULLY adjustable... Or I would reccomend not walker Evans ( they don't have all the adjustments) is Elka they r the chit, but they r pricey. When elka r purchased this is how they do it. First u pay n or talk to representative, then they contact u for info on u n your machine:: weight, style of riding etc. Each pair is custom built for your style of riding n conditions. Elka is very professional n thorough. That is what I think, if u need any help let me know. I have forgotten who I had contacted about building my fox shocks because it won't come into play for another year (1500 miles or so). | |

| Yea on my commander they had all the adjustments. On my xp there's a knob to turn and preload. That's it. I was thinking about stepping up the shocks some. |

| Having put a set of Elka's on my sportsman I will say I liked Elka ( and there tech support ) , problem was that I did not know how to adjust what I had to make it do what I wanted/needed to do . Seems like Simoniz talked of a fella that you take your machine to , he rides with ya to get a feel for how you ride and what your machine is doing , then he builds and adjusts your suspension to fit you . Tbone, having come from racing I feel this is what you should do if a true sport suspension is what you want . Putting on a set of $2000 shocks is good but knowing how to adjust them is priceless . | |

| Having adjusted my shocks some, maybe I can help. What don't you like about your current set up? Desert guys say to back the preload off some for a cushier ride, ie., more sag. My machine and yours are likely very different as I have added a good bit of extra weight. I felt like I needed more ground clearance (East Coast - or riding mud or rocks generally dictates that) so I increased the preload. I had to remove the right rear - in the end the left rear as well because I put probably 2" of preload into them. I backed the rebound valve off I think about 4 clicks. Now I had some in between settings but wasn't happy but I'm very satisfied wtih this set up. I'm also running 8 lbs of air on bead lock 12" wheels which helps absorb a little shock too. Anyway, that's what worked for me. I've probably got at least an extra 100 lbs on the back with storage box - gear/tools inside, rear rack with spare tire - fuel pack and often a chainsaw. I could probably back off the preload some with my arched A-arms and radius rods and get a little more cush, but I'm happy like it is. BTW, I only did like 1-1/4 - 1-1/2 on the front in proload. | |
