| Loosing speed or power? Just a reminder that the throttle cable stretches. Copied and pasted from another forum..
procedure is in the owner's manual..Check page 98.. Looks like it is right at the throttle body..pretty much like it is on other years...
MAINTENANCE Throttle System Throttle Body/Idle RPM Idle RPM is preset by the manufacturer. Throttle Freeplay Adjustment 1. Remove both seats. Remove the rear service panel. See page 31. 2. Locate the throttle cable adjuster at the throttle body. 3. Slide the cable adjuster boot off the cable adjuster. 4. Using a 10 mm open-end wrench, loosen the adjustment jam nut. 5. Using an 8 mm open-end wrench, move the cable adjuster until 1/16" to 1/8" (1.5-3 mm) of freeplay is achieved at the throttle pedal. See page 97. While adjusting, lightly flip the throttle pedal up and down. 6. Tighten the jam nut. 7. Apply a small amount of grease to the inside of the boot and slide it over the cable adjuster to its original position. All you need to do is follow the throttle cable to the front side of the throttle body and you will find where to adjust it. Turning it in (clockwise) gives the cable slack, the opposite direction will tighten it and raise the rpm's if you go too far. Start the machine and let it warm up until the idle stabilizes...then tighten the cable slowly until the rpms just start increasing...back it off a tad until the RPMs come back to idle RPM. Blip the throttle and make sure RPM remains at/near the idle RPM with little to no freeplay...tighten jambnut..done. | |
