| Elmo -- take what I said with a grain of salt. The XP 1000 is a great machine. Polaris needs to step up on their quality but they do make an enjoyable machine when running properly. Polaris owns the SxS market due to their making the combination of ride and performance people want. You have a great ride. Polaris has faults but no real competitors have proven to be better so far. | |

| Hey the wildcat trail has a kymco engine! There is too much angle on those xp1k shocks for a machine that size. The weight on the shock is transferred laterally. The shock is not designed for that. | |

| yea they all have some sort of issues. Some have more than others it seems but I haven't heard anything on how polaris is going to fix this until Elmo said something. The pic looks like it was a front one that snapped. I was just curious if polaris was going to step up and do a recall or what. Sounds like something is going on with it. |

| Havent had a problem with mine. (Knock on wood) From everyone i have talked to it seems the reason the shocks are not holding up is to much preload and running the rebound to stiff. | |

I have over 500 miles on mine now and no issues, as Tpollock said (knock on wood) ... I have seen nothing about a recall, and to make matters even worse, if you break one, they replace one. They don't go ahead and put the upgrade all the way around... Not a good decision if you ask me. But things change, who know what will happen in the end.

| I would be willing to bet its an isolated problem. All we see on the forums are pictures of a RZR with a broken shock. We don't see what they did to break the shock. Just watch some of the YouTube videos. They ride them like they are indestructible then come on the forums and cry about what a piece of junk it is. Been seeing it for years. | |

| This reminds me a lot of Ford, Chevy, Dodge etc forums, Where people who are against a certain brand or two think that if one particular vehicle of that brand has a problem, then they assume all of em are like that (junk). | |

| I sat in a 1000 today at Kevin Powell's Motosport in Winston-Salem. Nice SxS. Shocks do have a lot of piston with only spring around it. I can see how it would bend. I would have purchased the 1000 they had if they did not tell me $22.5k Out the Door. Whoa.... and bone stock... | |

| This one for $22.5k had some bonuses -- passenger part door would not close, front hood would not come off (salesman played with it for 10 min then bent it slightly), and the center box would not open. Petty stuff but stuff that should be easy to get right. | |

| LOL.. look at build date... and rear shock PN.. last 2 should be 44 and build after 9/22 )right front side on support brace, or take hood off on sticker on inside of hood ) or walk away..laughing... | |

| I was at dealer the morning after mine came off truck, helped put it together and caught some stuff they would have missed or just let pass... I love my dealer, but the guy that puts the stuff together could care less if it falls off 2min into the first ride... what I found, Doors out of alignment, I showed them how to fix, glove box screwed up, told them how to fix and fixed myself, almost stripped one roll cage bolt, made them clean threads and redo without all the other bolts tight (than tighten), front Diff low on fluid (others were OK) .. Moral of this story don't trust anyone, check everything yourself, every bolt, every grease fitting (yea, it needed grease too). I pulled every electrical connector and sealed with Dielectric grease, adjusted shocks to full soft and went up from there on each and every ride.. the xp1k has bugs, but nothing that cannot be overcome with what you have to work with... | |

| DMN, quote isn't working right.... read all of it, of the reported fires they have either been carrying extra fuel that leaked onto exhaust, or turbo that oil lines leaked... there has recently been a post here about carrying extra fuel.... I can get over 100 miles on my xp1k, for around here that works for me. | |

| Have 7 miles on my RZR 4 1000. Sometimes I have a squawking or squeaking sound. The sound comes from the rear end. Belt? The cover was warm to the touch, not hot. Shocks? To open the media console; pull down on thumb tab may need to hold up on the upper outer frame. The whole door opens then you can split the door. | |

Check the sway bar, the grease fittings are a pain to get to, but give them a shot and see if it helps. Also at 7 miles, you have not even started to break in the belt, it's hard, but take it easy for a while, do the break in, your belt will last much longer.

| While your at it, grease everything,(and don't forget the drive shaft) mine were low on grease... use a good grade of marine grade "green" grease, will last much longer in wet conditions.. | |

| Po Pos come with squeaks built in. Mine started squeaking 2nd ride and never stops, only changes tone. And I have dissembled everything that moves and lubed. 500 miles more squeaks rattles and loose bushings than my 5 year old Rhino ever had. But damn the ride, handling, power and did I mention power. Got to give something to get something. Po Po fit finish and quality is right there with Kymco but I accept it for the benefits. | |

| If u have a 800 the squeaking is coming from the rear sway bar. take the two bolts out and remove the bushing. It need greased on the opposite side of the grease fitting. I put a grease fitting on the other side also. | |
