- I believe this ethanol $hit is a government scam to boost the economy. It screws up fuel systems on our cars/trucks/sxs, etc., and alot of people will just go out and trade said vehicle for a new one. And, if you fix it, you have to buy parts. Seems like a way of trying to create more jobs. Only problem is, not many people make enough money to buy all this overpriced crap! It's all about the money.

| T-Bone probably knows way more about this than I do, but from what I THINK I know about it, once you count all the energy that goes into producing ethanol (planting and harvesting the corn, fertilizer, etc.) it is neither "greener" nor more efficient than regular gasoline. The real issue is that in presidential elections you can't win a majority in the electoral college without the corn-producing states. Therefore, we all end up having to deal with ethanol in our gasoline. Fortunately for me, the Augusta County (VA) farmer's Co-op runs a station reasonably near my family's farm (where I keep my off-road toys) that sells gasoline without ethanol. I run the premium grade of that stuff in all my machines when I can. | |
