| My last policy on my 2004 Rhino was $102 through Markel for Feb 2011 to Feb 2012. That was a low limit policy 25k/50K liability, 15k Bodily Injury, $500 deduct collision and comp with $1k in accessories. My main reason for the policy was theft or me running off a cliff....
My Honda Rincon and previous 800 Outlander was also around $100 each from Markel. My 2010 Can-am 800R Ltd was not insurable by Markel so it cost $240 through Progressive. Markel does not like 2up ATV's.
I personally have never found an insurance company that competes with Markel on price.

| I used to have State Farm for my 07 Streetglide and my 08 rhino...just out of curiousity one time I was paying my bill; told my agent I had around 5k in ad ons on my bike (H-D stands for hundre dollars). I asked if I had a total loss...would my add ons be included. He had the underwriter on speaker phone...he said, if I had a set of $400 pipes on my bike and it fell over and skuffed the pipes, I would get them replace...if I had a total loss...I would get blue book for my ride...pipes weren't paid extra.
For just the rhino, they wanted $600 bucks a year-said it was classified as a "dune-buggy". I switched to Progressive (which pay for add-ons).....for both the harley, and the rhino, is just right under 600 a year. I don't know if one company is any better than the other; but, if any of you all have State Farm, ya might wanna ask your agent what is covered, and what isn't !!

| This morning I called my insurance man and we had a meeting on this stuff.
What is the main driving force on making these policies so expensive is the collision on the machine. He said alot of companies will not write the collision on these because of such high risk. He once again assured me that 100 to 150 full coverage a year does not happen. He pulled a customer of his that had full coverage and said that he did not have the med bill money on it like mine and he did not have the collision.
Progressive said people think they have full coverage but dont. They believe they do if it gets stolen and the machine gets replaced and the accessories. That aint full coverage. I told them I was not happy if I was paying such a high dollar amount if others are not. They replied that my policy was a good policy and not bad for the price. If ANYONE states that they have "full coverage" for 100 to 150 a year then ask them to pull out their policy. Go straight to the collision. Thats the most expensive. Progressive said 90% of their customers DO NOT have this and DO NOT have medical payments. Just call them out if they make the claim they do. They told me these premiums are here to stay and expect to pay this in the future for the type of insurance I carry. They told me the coverage I have is almost perfect...they said I asked for it and thats what I got.
Also instead of a 500 deductible I have 250. That makes it go up some.
Listen guys, I am not doing this to make anyone mad. I hope what I dig up can help everyone. I do not mean any harm. This insurance has been a big battle for years on the atv segment. I think everyone on here would be ticked off if you were paying 700 dollars a year for insurance when everyone else says there only paying 100. I hope this helps everyone! This is a great thread.

I think the bodily injury is to someone else..... Today they told me that the bodily injury is for if someone gets injured from my machine. Could be anything. If I get sewed from my mistake..."which could happen" then I am covered. Progressive said that was a big one that not many people have. |

| It's $230/yr on my rzr with a $500 deductable. It's cheap because I have it added on with my other autos, not through a separate company, and I have a $500 deductable. It was going to be much higher with a $250 deductable.
But, you have to remember Hump has a great driving record with only 1 claim ever, and that one was a act of nature.

If I get sewed from my mistake..."which could happen" then I am covered. Progressive said that was a big one that not many people have. The bodily injury is in the liability to others section on my statement...I carry $100k per person/$300k each accident. Medical payments are $1k...comp & collision have $250 deductibles each. Uninsured/uderinsured are both 20/40/10...uninsured has a $300 deductible. I also have $3k in accesory coverage. All of that totals up to $195 a year...the harley has the exact same coverages, and it is $421 a year. I am basically insuring both w/Progressive, for what state farm wanted for JUST the rhino!!! Is that similar to what you are carrying T-Bone (I know you have posted the #'s...didn't wanna scroll back) ? It also says down in the fine print after you have been w/them 2yrs, you earn "certain-protection" from your policy being terminated. ???
