| Ok, decided it's time for the next series on upgrades to the RZR. Going with a SuperATV 6" lift kit & long travel suspension. I'm doing away with the 27" Bighorns in favor of something with more grip. I really like the GBC Grim Reapers I have on the Rhino. They are 8 ply radials and grip much better than Big Horns. However, the biggest they make is a 27/11 with a 14" rim and 26/12 with a 12" rim. I like the 12" rims as they allow more flex and griping (IMO). The plan is to put the same size on all four corners, preferbly 27/12x12s. I will definetly be going to a beadlock rim wether they are 12s or 14s.
1) Thoughts on 12" vs 14" rims.
2) Suggestion on beadlock rims.
3) Tire suggestions for trail & rock crawling. (no into mudding)
Thanks in adavance...Joe |

| I say stay with big horns for trail & rock crawling
I would go with 12"
I don't have any experience with beadlocks

| RZR JOE...I have the Superatv beadlocks and I like them. Wash them only in Simple green and they will stay shiny. When you get all of this installed, take some pics for us. Sounds like you are going to have a sweet ride. | |

I don't have any experience with beadlocks Bobby, you like the Bighorns best? I have the GBCs on the Rhino and it grips much better than the Bighorns on the RZR. During our ride at Brimstone I even lowered the air pressure down to 8psi and would still spin where the GBCs just grabed and climbed over the rocks. I run the GBCs at 12psi and they really work well. |

From what I have seen it seems that bighorns are used more than any other tire on a Side X Side but I don't have any experience with the GBC you are talking about but looks like more of a mud tire. The bighorns are known to work best in dirt & rocks from my experience. A friend of mine bought the GBC 8 ply tires and put a hole in the sidewall on the first day of use so you can puncture any tire which I'm sure you know.

| Super atv plus five here. 12" rims = softer ride. 26x9x12 bighorns all around for me. Watch out for the tie rod ball joint bolt rubbing against the inside of the rims. Had to cut mine shorter with a hack saw. Oem rims. Harder steering?? | |

| The tie rods don't hit the rims. They are on the bottom where they are supposed to be. On top= wandering. The through bolt that super atv provides with the kit is to long. If you run the bolt through the tie rod from the bottom up it sticks up and rubs against the rims when you mount the tire. Something you wouldn't normally notice. Super atv is aware of this. They may have come out with a shorter bolt by now. Don't know. Also be sure and use the spacer they provide for the tie rod bolt. Gives the joint room to articulate. | |

| On another note. The front axle splines tend to rust in place in the differential. If you are going to be removing the front axles then you should start spraying penetrating lube in there a few days in advance. Makes them much easier to get out. This is normally not a problem with the rear axles as the splines go through into the rear end oil. But spray them all anyway. | |

Use spray on lithium grease on the splines of the axles (both ends). Will help prevent water and dirt from entering splines, makes disassembly a breeze. |

| Ok, finally decided: Dragon Fire Racing Cruser Beadlocks on sale for $140ea: GBC Grim Reapers 26x12x12 on all four corners. I'll get them from my local Discount tire, they match any internet price. Have got to know the guys there fairly well and they hook me up. Got the BGCs on the Rhino from them also. SuperATV has put their billet aluminum +6" lift/LT kit on sale. Get that ordered this week and we'll be ready to roll shortly + = Damn brown truck is gonna be the death of me, makes it way too easy to order SXS stuff |

Thanks, trying to make that ride. It'll be close getting everything done. Have hide from the wifey in the garage for a while. While I'm doing the suspension figured I remove the bed and add some heating sheilding & try to add some dust block offs behind/under the seats. |

I've got reapers on my rhino so I can size them up against the RZR. The 26x12x12 reapers I have on the back of the rhino look good, we'll see. You are right the Bighorns run large. |

| Sedona makes a good looking tire but it is 6 ply vs most other options being 8 ply. I do like the tread pattern.
T-Bone - soon as I get the lift and wheels/tires changed out. Would like to do another day trip...up for it? |
