| Have any of the RZR owners found a better than stock replacement ball joints? The stock Polaris ball joints suck. The rubber boot on them do not seal up and mud gets in them in no time. 800 miles on my XP and both lower ball joints need replaced. Gotta be a better than stock one out there. | |

| Ball Joints are not covered under the warranty, considered a wear item. Come on Tbone get your facts straight. Does that show room Can't Am have ball joints on it? Since we both know it does will they wear out?? You better not take that show room machine riding cause if anything ever breaks on it and this board finds out about it you will never hear the end of if. I will make sure of it!!! | |

| 800 miles is about right. I'm going to try the super atv ones next. They are $25 each, and I figure they can't be much worse than the polaris ones. | |

| 800 miles on ball joints is crazy imo... After you replace them you might wanna get one of those grease gun needles and start inserting it under the boot to shoot some grease in there. Greasy dirt is far better than dry dirt... | |

Thats the problem right there. The rubber boot will not seal the mud out. I've even thought about adding some type of glue to get them to seal up. If these other machines do not have this problem then somebody is making a balljoint where the rubber boot seals the mud out.

| I pulled the lower A-arm off today and squeezed the rubber boot on the ball joint and the mud just oozed out. | |

I replaced ball joints and tie rod ends at 1200, and started greasing them after every ride with one of those needles. Water came out every time, but the ball joints still wore out again at 2700. Now, it done great on the tie rod ends, they are still tight as new. I think those bottom joints just get beat apart more than wearing out, if that makes any since. They take a heck of a beating.

Is this just a RZR problem Hump? Have you had this problem with your Rhino?

| I don't know the miles or hrs on the rhino because it don't have guage pod in it. So far everything is tight in it. I bet I don't have 1000 miles on it yet. I don't drive it as hard as the rzr either. I have heard from some other rhino owners that I ride with now and then, that the bushings and balljoints last, it's the wheel bearings that seem to go on them. | |

Thanks good info. I really haven't looked too much at the ball joints and on other machines but I'm gonna start, because if they are lasting then they gotta be designed different. I don't have much trouble with the upper ball joint, it's the lower one thats a pain.

| I don't think it's as much the design of the joint, but more the quality of the stuff they are made of. Next time I need them, I'm going with the super atvs. If they last as long, then I will just go ahead and change them out every so many miles instead of waiting on them to start flopping around.
I would bet anything that rzr balljoints and front driveshafts are made in china. Some stuff on this thing looks top notch, and some parts just look like total junk.

| I got the SuperATV balljoints on my RZR and the boots on them don't seal that well either. If a RZR had high quality parts like a Honda or Yamaha, the dumb things would probably cost $2500 to $4000 more. I got both a Can Am and Polaris bikes. And to be honest the C/A is a little bit better, but not a whole lot better like a lot of people like to say. I would buy either one again. The Rotax engines are killer though. If you ride a lot in WV as much as we do, your gonna work on something eventually. And if you ain't working on it, then your probably riding like grandma and avoiding every mudhole or water puddle on the trail. | |

If thats all the maintenance you've done in 3000 miles, then thats pretty darn good.

| Terry, would it be better to just cut the boot off and let it run, that way it won't hold water and mud... is there room to put a zip tie around the top to hold it closed...?? | |

I had actually thought about both of those things. I think the zip tie will work if it's not too tight cause the stem has to be able to spin in the boot.
