| What I did when i stayed there back in june,it's cheap and if them bastards try to take my side x side ..it's on,
Take a roll of fishing string, tie it around a bumper front and back and run it around a couple roll bars. slip it through the window of your cabin and stack about 4 beer cans(or soda cans for those that don't partake) now you have a active alarm system for anyone taking or tring to remove anything from your trusty steed. item # 2 and most important, a glock 19 with a flashlight. game over!

Most of the fellers in that campground would never hear those beer cans fall.....

I wonder if they are going to do the gate now. anybody heard anything from them on this yet? |

That's funny, I have never seen that sign. I agree that is a bad idea. BTW, we have a lot of violaters regarding that. A lot of this group comes pretty well heeled!

| As much money as Ashland is taking in I dont see any reason they cant afford a gate. They better start thinking about protecting the investment instead of trying to grow it. Even with a gate I would still have a all night security guard. If people dont feel they and their belongings are safe they will quit coming | |

Maybe now they will spend the money. |

| I think they need a camera down at the road somewhere. If not a video camera get one that would snap a pic of a license plate/face of anyone coming in or out at night. | |

| i dont know who runs ashland from adam but i think anywhere down there this problem exists. we know about ashland cause we stay there. im sure wild willys, the places in gilbert and any of the hotels along the interstate that folks stay at have the same issue. i stayed in my poor mans toy hauler to save money cause the cabins are expensive but i have no issues staying at ashland in the spring. does anyone know how to get police reports from the surrounding areas? bet this is happening all around the hatfield mccoy trail system. | |

| Its definately a area wide problem. Just not at ashland. We stayed in Bramwell at Hillbilly Hideaway for the fall ride and Charlie the guy that owns the place told us to lock our stuff up or block it in because there had been quite a few stolen in Bramwell the past few months. Ive got a EMP shift lock on mine that locks it in park with a pad lock. Theives would either have to pick the whole machine up or make alot of noise hacking on the lock and or shifter console. Chances are thats too much work and they are gonna go to the next one. | |

| Well not to knock the EMP shfter lock. Take a look at your machine. Remove 1 small clip from the shifter cable put in gear by hand and off ya go........who ever is doing this knows what they are doing........ I had a S15 stolen one time. It takes less than a minute to pop the door lock peel the steering column and away they go.......The truck did get recovered. I got the steering column rebuild, added a viper alarm, shaved the outer door handles, removed all door rods and inside handles. The doors would only open when the alarm button was pushed...... | |

| I really think Ashland should step up the security on a weekend like that. I talked the one of these guys yesterday. It really sucks. I had one stolen out of my garage back in 2008.
Here is an idea to slow them down. We will offer a great discount for "Ashland Campers". Call for a price. 216-267-3900. Ask for Gretchen when calling.

Barbi and I woke up to an RZR going by our campsite Saturday night about 3 am. I thought it may be getting stolen but then again they may be going to the Restroom.

Last man standing at the campfire. Just heading to the bath house. Sorry I woke you. Thanks for offering up a deal on the shifter lock! May have to pick one up.

| Several companies make GPS type theft alarms for motorcycles and such. They have an "app" you put on your smartphone. If the vehicle is moved it sets off an alarm to your smartphone. You can customize the alarm settings for various scenarios based on speed or location. Then you call the alarm company who coordinates with the police to track your vehicle. Also after your vehicle is recovered they can backtrack the whereabouts to see the route the vehicle took to get to the place of recovery. I have not seen one of these units myself but they are small enough to hide and would be difficult to find.
Wouldn't it be great to see the look on their faces when the police pulls in behind them?

Wouldn't it be great to see the look on their faces when the police pulls in behind them? Do those still work if you don't have a signal on your phone? I think AT&T is the only one that works at Ashland. I know Verizon doesn't work there. I guess you could drive until you get a signal then track it if it doen't work without a signal.

| One thing is for sure. If this doesn't stop, our insurance premiums are going to start going up at a rapid pace. I can hear you out of staters insurance agents asking "are you going to be taking this into WV to ride?"
I would like to add that all these anti-theft ideas are nice, but just know that they are on here watching right now. They are deciding what machines in our group to take, when to get them, and what ones will be easiest. They will know exactly what they need to do to take yours. Don't trust people you don't know well.
A wise man once told Hump "don't trust any man when it comes to money or women". Well, there is alot of money in a sxs.

| What the need to worry about is someone getting up in the middle of the night to go to the restroom and they surprise the theives in action and get hurt. Rzr,s can be replaced but the more the thieves get away with the bolder they will get and someone will get hurt. |
