| With all of this talk on machines getting stolen at Ashland, someone today told me that it's starting up where thieves are stealing machines on the trail. 4 or less in a group, thieves are taking a gun to those in wv and hijacking machines. I personally don't know anyone this has happened to but this guy was worried and said it has been happening alot in the wv area.
What can we do to avoid this? |

| What the heck ---
1st -- carry a gun as well & have it ready to use.
2nd -- ride in a group.
Just a quick few suggestions, but I am sure several more will chime in

What can we do to avoid this? i carry a 9mm. damn, we just cant hole up and and worry about every asshole out there (well other than rayray, he is sorta of a pet) . seriously, you think anyone would try to highjack this group. no way. if anyone on here doesnt have self protection for your homes, you should be more concerned about that than the ashland/hatfield mccoy trail system.

| I'm with Jet. You can't worry about everyone on the trail and you should always ride with someone. Anything can happen on the trail. As far as this story well anything is possible. The first time I rode HM I was alone on my Foreman and was approached by two locals. They asked me a lot of ?'s and told me to follow them to some "real trails". I said sure thing I'll follow. I went to just ahead where I knew another trail was and I turned while they continued. Do not know what they were up to if anything at all but a lot of Red Flags went up when they where asking me ?'s. I had my LCP .380 on me but still it would have been better to have someone else on the trail with me. | |

This is what I heard....if you don't have a concealed carry permit then you have to have the landowners permission to carry on their property...

| I'm packin at all times...ALL TIMES! If someone would draw on me and want my machine, I would not engage in a shootout because I have insurance on my ride, and my ride is not worth my life anyway. This is where carrying concealed is important. If they pull on you, then notice your gun on your side, you have a major problem. If they don't know you are packing, they drive off with your ride, and you walk out to call your insurance agent. Live to ride another day.
Bottom line is if you are a victim of armed robbery and get a clear shot after they rob you, shoot them, make sure they are dead, and make sure you shoot them face to face. Do not shoot them in the back, or as they are turning to walk away after the robbery. That's when self defense turns into murder.
Tbone, take a class, get educated, and get yourself a gun. I'm not picking on you when I say you are a very good target for a robber because you have money. And quit screwing around, because right after Obama gets re-elected, there will be a major gun ban, and you won't be able to get anything.
There are two types of life insurance, the kind you buy to take care of things after you die, and the kind you load and carry in your pants or coat.

| Well said Hump. I believe VA's carry rules are close or the same as WV. Romney is showing gains now so hopefully Obama will get walking papers. Not sure about gun bans but I do know buying ammo will get tighter from what I was told. | |

| It's a natural defense to turn your back on someone who is shooting at you. Happens quiet often, especially with police. If a person is armed and he turns his back on me while engaged in a shoot out, then thats tough for him. I say keep on plugging away until he's gone or down for good. Front or back, makes no difference. If he still has a gun then he is still a threat. Just my thought and my experiance. | |

| You really never know what you would do in certain cases...when a gun comes out and pointed at you, your body does weird things that cause your motor skills to change.
Police officers go though special training just for that. You really need to practice with your weapon and develope muscle memory. That way...God forbid...if you did have to use your weapon, you wouldn't have to think about each and every move.
Believe it or not....when things go down...a lot of people can't even pull their weapon out of the holster because of the sudden burt of addrenaline. That's when muscle memory come in to play to help with that situation.
Practice...practice...practice....I have always had guns but I'm just now starting to cary....and I am going to practice until my weapon is like an extention of my body and it's second nature to use it.
Hump is right...no vehicle is worth your life...but if you see they are going to start shooting anyway....that's when being prepaired as much as possible comes in to play.
I have friends that carry...but if something went down...I don't think they could perform. Only because they never practice....they only just carry.

| lIKE HUMP AND OTHERS SAID , I CARRY ALL THE TIME. especially in the trails.
I have my concealed carry and just a foot note, The places that you are not suppose to conceal carry is 50% of the places you really need it.
My instructor said , shootem in the head and make that assailant dead.
If not the assailant becomes the victim and will sue you.
JMO
If someone trys that shit on the wvsxsriders, more likely they will be sorry. that would be like 2 or 3 people going against Devil Anse Hatefields family.
dude pulls out a gun, we pull out 30 guns. now you still want this rzr, buddy.
Still like Hump said, No ones life is worth a SXS
