Snorkel your wildcat ??

Well I decided to snorkel my wildcat.  After looking at the location for the intakes for the clutch and air box I got nervous.  Some of you may know about this stuff, some may not.  Just putting it out there. In the picture below the clutch and air box intake are right behind the battery with the clutch being the lowest one.  If you hit a mud hole hard there is a tunnel that will funnel the mud and water right over the battery towards the intakes.  Don't have to go deep to get mud and water in there. 

Here is a picture of my clutch intake.  Haven't got the air box intake off yet.


If you wanted to snorkel the clutch only, then that would be easy to do.  Just cut the clutch intake pipe in the area where it is marked here and go to the plumbing section and get a two inch rubber connector.  From there you could come up and out with two inch pvc.

There is a couple other things that may be of interest.  On the bottom of the air box there is a sight cup that you can check to see if water is in there.  You can pull it out if you want because it is flexible.  Don't like it because it doesn't seal very good.  I put wheel bearing grease around it and stuck it back in there.






Also there is a 10mm drain bolt on the bottom of the clutch cover.  Didn't know that was there.



I took the clutch cover off and blew the dust out and stuck it back on.  Everything appeared normal.  Don't know nothing about clutches.

 

So the battery is between the seats, I didn't know that. I thought the vents in the bed were for all the intake and exhaust hoses. Strange that they would put them where they are. Thanks for the pics.

I thought the same thing! I would never have guessed that the air for the clutch and filter comes from that cavity between the seat and from under the WC.

Mine has been DONE! It gets fresh air from inside the cab and also put a pre filter outer wears on it

All snorkeled up.  A pain in the ass but it's done.  Had to move the radiator over flow to behind the drivers seat.


Here is the finished product.  Still have to elevate the gas tank vent line.  That should only take fifteen minutes or so. 

The wires up there are for turn signals.  Why not..Had it all tore apart any way.  Can still see out the rear view mirror..
Here is the switch on the arm rest to operate the turn signals.  On off on.

I like it, nice job!  Good idea to run turn signal wires while you were there.  That will be a great mod to make it street legal if you wanted to.
